i, 26f, got engaged for an arranged marriage to my husband, 30m, back in 2021. i got married in 2024 and i hate him. after living with him and realizing who he is, i can’t stand to even hear his voice, be near him, or even talk to him. he’s a gaslighter, ragebaits on purpose, and such a narcissist.

he verbally said he shouldn’t have to help around the house bc he’s a man and it’s not his job, meanwhile it’s only us two in the house, we don’t have kids. he doesn’t pick anything up after himself, and the worst he’s done to me is not get anything for my birthday and got mad as to why he should apologize to me for not getting and plan anything for my birthday (in 2025, so very recent) . i’ve had customers from work give me presents for my birthday and my family and cousins planned a whole party for me while he stood there eating cake like a freeloader knowing he didn’t do anything for his wife. i was in such a bad state of depression that i lost 15 pounds in the first 2 months of marriage.

now here is where i know im a bad person but please don’t judge me, im sorry. i have a friend (22m) who i’ve known since 2022 and we’ve been best friends ever since. he’s the only person who i cried in front of about my wedding two weeks before i got married and even the day before my wedding. he was so invited to the wedding too 😭. we fell off for around 2-3 months in the summertime of 2025 and then rekindled back in oct 2025 and grew a bond pretty strong, we were inseparable. nov 2025, my birthday, he knew i never got flowers from my husband so he got me a huge bouquet of flowers for my birthday, and a couple days later, we both found out we had a crush on each other but never said anything bc we both were in our own relationships. ….comes day after thanksgiving and we chose to date each other. yes i know im cheating on my husband, im a bad person, but i never had a bond with that man anyway. i despise him. here i am, still dating my current boyfriend and im so happy, im healthy again, we’re gym partners, we go on dates almost everyday, and im finally moving on with my life and giving that guy a divorce!!!

edited to add that my parents currently hate me bc ofc they can’t stand to hear that i cheated on the guy they chose for me with a christian guy (im muslim) and hate me and my boyfriend but they’re coming to accept him only bc ive stood my ground

another edit to add: i was born and raised in nyc and he immigrated here from pakistan so our mindsets are completely different. i grew up americanized but ofc i dont drink or smoke bc ik what to do and what not. he cant stand the fact i have guy friends and american friends who smoke and drink and has verbally said that my character is trash bc of who my friends are. meanwhile my friends love me and respect my views esp bc im the only muslim in our friend group. my american friends are way better than my friends i had growing up in an islamic school. i haven’t seen my friends since my wedding bc of him and ive felt so alone
