What should I do with my Quaker on vacation?

I’m taking a 3 day road trip in September and a week long vacation in October and I was worried about leaving my Quaker that long. He’s not a lone bird (I have a a budgie too). Someone will be coming to check on them and feed them but I was thinking about looking into boarding for the week long vacation so they have more interaction. Any thoughts?

Is my Quaker molting ?

he lost 3 feathers while flying today alone. they’re larger feather (from tail and wings) which is why I’m interested in finding out if he’s molting or if there’s other issues.

Bearded Dragon showed up on my boyfriends doorstep, looking for advice.

My boyfriend found this bearded dragon on his doorstep coming home from work. We are picking up a 75gal tank for now as he’s not full grown yet we don’t think? (Around a foot long). I would appreciate any recommendations or tips. I know they need a uvb lamp (boyfriend is picking one up tmrw for him) but how can we keep him warm overnight ?

He lives in a neighborhood with loose dogs that is right by a busy road, so I told him to pick the BD up as I didn’t want him being eaten Or hurt. No places near me were open to take him so We’re rushing to do research but again, I’d appreciate any advice!

Why does my Quaker do this?

Why does my Quaker chew on me so much! My clothes, my arms everything. I would let him if he weren’t A) hurting me, and B) wasn’t chewing into fabric. He also likes to rub his beak on things (fabric, cage bars, my arms etc).He has some toys but could it be that he doesn’t like them or is bored of them? Is this normal Quaker things or is he just a freak lol

Poorly taken care of budgie is now in my care, need advice

This is Poki. She is about 7 years old but she has not been taken good care of. I am finally in a position where I can take her over and care for her and I need advice. I got my first parrot (Quaker) unexpectedly a month and a half ago and have grown to love them, but I don’t know much about budgies, especially one that has had very little human contact her whole life. She has never been outside of the cage, and is timid of almost everything. I know ideally she would have a bigger cage but I’m not even sure she would be comfortable in one given that this cage has been her whole life for 7 years. She has a seed only diet, which I know I need to change to pellets but I’m not sure what kind as my Quaker parrot has pellets that are too big. I also want to put some actual perches in her cage and clean it, but I’m not sure if I should given that this is her first day in my room with my Quaker.

I know I’ll have to go very slow with her to gain her trust, but is it completely unrealistic for me to want to be able to get her comfortable with me? I know budgies can live a few years older than what she is given proper care and I’m striving to give her the best care possible so that I can at least give her a few good years of a human bond and trust.

She has not seen another bird in about 3 years, as she unfortunately witnessed the passing of her canary friend Cannito. I know she and my Quaker can’t be out at the same time, at least until she’s comfortable with me and her surroundings, but is it possible being around my Quaker could be stressing her out? Is there any way to tell if they don’t like each other ?

I’ll take any advice I can get😅

Quaker landed in my backyard 2 days ago, now I need tips.

As the title says, a Quaker landed in my backyard the other day and perched on my shelf. He let my dad grab him, we got him a large cage, and now he’s mine? (He isn’t banded and no one in our neighborhood groups have responded or posted abt a lost bird.) From the brief research I’ve done, I know he will be a longgg commitment and I want to make sure I get him used to me with the proper care so that he has a long happy life.

I’ve started feeding him Zupreem pellets mixed in with a veggie chop and some flax mill, so I believe I’ve got his diet relatively squared away (for now).

I’ve given him some toys to play with, but he’s only played with them once. I think it’s because I do not have enough perches for him to comfortably get around so I plan to order a variety of perches and maybe more toys to see what he likes.

Because his cage isn’t as exciting as I’d like it to be yet, I try to let him out and fly around so he can have some enrichment. When I do this, he likes to perch on top of his cage and won’t let me get him off. Sometimes he gets on me after I get him out initially but I don’t force it. I respect his boundaries and understand I’ll need to build trust, but what are ways you’d recommend to get him back in and build trust? What should I use as treats? Should I buy a clicker to train him?

Finally, he stays in my room bc we have dogs and a cat and don’t trust them to leave the bird alone. Because of this, I want to know if candles or nonstick pans from the kitchen across the house will harm him? I’m willing to make the change but would have to talk to my dad.

All in all I have a loose idea of what I need/have to do, but it’s all a bit overwhelming since it wasn’t expected. Any advice on what to read/watch to learn more, and does anyone have any tips?
