Is Civ Pro Really 3 Hours And 20 Minutes?

Hi everyone! I'm trying to get my life together before classes start and I think I'm a little in shock. I guess I didn't know what I was expecting, but I saw on my schedule for the fall that civ pro is scheduled from 6pm to 9:20pm.

Is is really true that the class is 3 hours and 20 minutes? Is there actual instruction that entire time?

I just want to manage my time and expectations correctly.

Thankful for any info!

Residency Dress Code?

Hi everyone! I'm super excited to be attending Vermont Law this fall and I have my first in-person residency in September.

Ladies, what are we wearing??

Itinerary includes: welcome reception, oath of professionalism, classes, dinner cruise.

Should I assume business casual for everything? Is the oath super fancy? Are classes casual?

Someone please let me know the vibes. Thank you!

What To Wear To Beach Bar Event?

Hello fellow LBWT. I am a long time lurker, first time poster.

I'm starting law school this fall and the firm I currently work for is taking me to a Legal Aid Society event to introduce me to the local legal community.

My issue is that the event is at a beach bar/club. The venue literally has sand and is a pretty notable summer club at night. I'm so lost on what to wear. I want to keep is professional, but I also don't want to look out of place or I'm trying too hard.

Please help!

Masquerade App Not Working?

Hi everyone!

I'm trying to apply for the Masquerade before the deadline this week, but every time I try to attach photos I keep getting this error:

Error: 403, Message: Your session has expired. Please refresh the page and try again.

I've refreshed, closed out and opened again, and tried on my phone, still the error persists.

Is anyone else having this issue? I don't want to miss the deadline!

Are you guys actually talking to insurance adjusters?

Hey y'all. I've had a few calls recently that have left me wondering if we do things differently than most.

I'm currently a legal assistant at a small PI/WC firm. We don't have an automated attendent (press 1 to reach... etc.). I have to pick up every call and the policy here is that all insurance calls get transferred to the attorney's voicemail. Attorney then forwards VM to one of the paralegals with assignments or says to just put a note in the file that this adjuster called. I've been reprimanded for having forwarded adjuster calls to paralegals.

I've had a few insurance adjusters call me back and give me a hard time about getting an attorney's voicemail. Some also get mad that I won't send them to a paralegal's line. One has even said "I've never in my 40 years of doing this job ever encountered a firm with a policy like this". Another one has even tried to bypass me in hopes of getting through to a paralegal by refusing to tell me what client she's calling about and demanding a certain paralegal's line. I've had to argue and say I can't forward you to anyone until I know which case you're calling about.

Is my firm weird? Or are you guys also not talking to insurance adjusters?
