Role cancelled after final round interview

I was interviewing for a design role since last month. Last week I spent days preparing for my 1 hour presentation and met with the team for the final round.

I’ve been waiting to hear back from the role this week only to get an automated email saying it was cancelled. I enjoyed meeting the team and feel defeated by the news.

On top of that, scheduling has been incredibly stressful. First I was told I had to present in person and was only offered 2 time slots 2 days in advance. So I spent hours practicing for my anticipated irl final round.

Then I woke up to an email that said HR forgot to notify me I wasn’t schedule in. So I continued practicing until I was offered a remote interview slot and took that immediately.

The scheduling experience wasn’t great and created a lot of anxiety and panic.

How do you frame your case studies to fit a role you have partial experience in?

I have an 45 min interview coming up for an e-commerce/booking product but my projects are only partially related.

For example, I was a user researcher for a project with a ticket purchasing flow on city tourism tickets. I was only the supporting designer for that project and left out on most of the trade offs and decision making.

Next project I was the lead designer for a patient booking system but it was for a product pitch and there wasn’t any user researcher/usability testing done.

How would I go about constructing a case study for this? Does anyone have examples?

How do you develop good taste and stop being cliché? (F30)

Hello, looking for advice here. I joined a project recently with an incredibly intelligent and sophisticated team to design a multimedia experience. The creative directors are greatly inspired by film, politics, and innovative media, and keep telling me to avoid being cliché in my output. The problem is... I don't know how not to be? (I grew up with social media and watched anime on youtube so my taste is pretty... mainstream. Plus I haven't watched shows/movies/play games in YEARS.)

The inspiration boards they put up are genuinely out of this world and nothing I could have thought on my own (nor in my circle of designers).

I am subtly embarassed every time I pitch an idea because I know it falls short of what they are thinking. It's become a thing where I stay silent most meetings because anything I say leads to crickets or sounds too simple. At this point I might be given logistics work instead of a creative seat.

Has anyone evolved their taste and creative thinking before? How did you do it? Is it even possible to develop high end creative tastes? am I stuck like this for life?

How many rounds does JPMC have for Senior UX Design or Conversation Design role?

Hello everyone,

A recruiter reached out to me last weekend to set up time to meet with a HM for a senior conversation design role. Does anyone have any insight on how many interview rounds there are?

Besides behavioral and background questions, is there anything I should be prepared for the call?

Also, is it too late to message the recruiter about questions on growth opportunities or the interview process?
