Saved a 17 inch CRT monitor

Friends work place we’re going to chuck this in the skip, saved it.

I am wondering if I should prioritise refresh rate over resolution. I’m running Fallout 4 at 1024x768 at 85hz. What would you recommend for the best experience? Would you say the extra hz are worth it over the slightly better resolution?

Region modding

I have an Xbox 360 E and I'm using a composite video cable to use it on a CRT. It displays in black and white unless I change it from 60hz PAL to 50hz. Issue with that is most games wont run on PAL 50hz.

Is there any way to mod it to allow colour and run in 60hz? Maybe modding it to be NTSC somehow? Surely this isn't a hardware limitation as my console can indeed display in colour.

PVM expansion card fix

My PVM has some damage to one of the connectors on the expansion card, I’m thinking some pliers would sort it, if anyone has any good ideas on how to fix this I would appreciate it! These are metal so can’t be bent back easily.

Dell E771a died on me

My Dell CRT seems to have died, it powered off by itself after switched it on and now won’t power on.

I am interested in learning how to fix it, I have a cheap soldering iron and have done a couple bits of soldering before.

Where should I start? I am thinking learning about the safety first, any recommendations for videos would be amazing.

I am guessing the issue could be dead caps.

If anyone has any advice or recommendations I would appreciate it. I’m not massively attached to this CRT but it might be good to learn how to repair it, on the other hand if it’s not worth the safety risk, I am open to giving it away to someone more experienced.
