I wanted to see if this had happened to others and if so what you were able to do about it.

i have a large playlist of classical music I have collected over the years with specific recordings and treatments of different works that I enjoy. Today as I was playing it suddenly many of the tracks changed to be different recordings of the same works. I know spotify does this with more modern music when artists reupload recordings etc, but here they are materially different works. Also, the original track is still available on spotify! For my selection for the Nutcracker, for example, it has left some tracks from my chosen recording but subbed out others from more than one alternative.

I really dislike listening to the alternatives and I am angry that spotify would do this, especially when the original tracks remain available. classical music varies a lot by performance and recording; recordings of the same works are not interchangeable. i tried to complain but their customer service is notoriously obstructive and shut me out of the complaint without any response or action.

So has this been happening for any of you, and were you able to do anything about it?

this is really a vent, I know the answer is A/B testing and capitalist ridiculousness. there used to be a panel with “my shows”, being podcasts I listened to most and when you clicked on a show it took you back to wherever you were last. useful because I am usually midway through long back catalogues. that seems to have gone permanently now so you have to search podcasts and remember where you were and scroll through to find it. (if you click the episode in the top panel of collected bubbles it takes you anywhere but to the episode it says it will).

and now, recent listening seems to have disappeared too? all recent music and podcasts? it’s awful! this is how I use the app! the home page is now full of podcasts and artists and episodes I don’t listen to and it is tedious and difficult to find what I actually regularly listen to.

i am posting mostly because it infuriates me so much how they unnecessarily remove the most basic functionality and make their app so much harder to use, frequently making me super annoyed when there is just no need for it! i am writing sort of for anyone else who is equally annoyed and needs to know they’re not alone in their annoyance when they google the issue, ha. you had this basic functionality there all along? what could possibly be served by removing it? I’ve liked spotify’s functionality enough before now to stick it out through its anti-consumer UE but now I think it may be time to move elsewhere.

I have a mini shaded red smooth haired dachshund puppy named Lady. She is 14 weeks, in my house 3-4 weeks. She is very proximity focused, with quick escalation to yelping if she is put in a crate or pen in the day, and when I leave the house I can see she yelps and does escape attempts and bites the cage the full 60-90mims I am gone. she chews rope toys but no interest in kongs or food based toys.

Otherwise she is coming along well, no longer peeing in the crate, playing and quietly coexisting with my older dog (female 11yo standard dachshund). She does not seem anxious or fearful, can be in cafes with other dogs without barking (mostly) and is even asking to go outside to do her business sometimes, which seems v early for that.

the problem is sleep and I am losing my mind. For most of her time here she did ok in the crate overnight, some fussing to start with but then she would settle. Up to toilet 3-4 times, back in the crate with some fussing and then settling. By the 5am toileting she wouldn’t settle after so I brought her into my bed to get more hours of sleep. she would snuggle in and settle quickly and all was well.

recently she started not settling after her night toileting. She barks and screams non stop for 30-40 mins. The crate is elevated and right by my bed so I can put my hand in and she licks it intensely but it doesn’t calm her.

i have ME/CFS and the toll of sleep loss and the exertion of vigilance in the day was already causing big problems but with this new behaviour it felt like she was shredding my nervous system. Eventually i decided to bring her into the bed if she wasn’t settling within 5 mins of toileting. I had begun to lose my mind and even yelled at her and it was clear i wasn’t coping. She settled and slept long and I thought I had an answer for the immediate challenge.

however, in the two nights since, she has not settled when coming to bed. Instead she wriggles and roams about. I doze but wake up a few times an hour with her somewhere new, scratching me or otherwise disrupting sleep. Also, because she was raised on puppy pads, she sometimes toilets on the dog beds in the house, and I al certain she would pee on my bed if given free reign. The exertion of washing bed and duvet and bedding would be way more than I could manage now so I am also awake being vigilant for where she is wandering.

last night I put her in the crate in a pen in the kitchen with a soft bed and some water and she cried literally the whole rest of the night, four hours.

i am losing my mind and I don’t know what to do. bringing her to bed was the failsafe option, and now it too is too disruptive for sleep? My biggest stress is my own health and how depleted my coping is. My first priority has to be restoring my own sleep and I ask for any advice on this set up that you think might get me that result. It’s a given that puppy is safe and cared for. what is at real risk is my own coping and functioning. i feel a bit of despair because there seems to be no other options, and people then suggest sending her back to the breeder, but this is a temporary problem! It started 5 nights ago! And with development it will probably resolve fine like it did for my older dog. But my stupid condition means I can‘t just tough it out.

i find it very annoying that spotify’s home page changes constantly so you can’t find the same things in the same places. this is most annoying for my regular podcasts, which usually appear as the first panel of options under the bubbles, but sometimes are further down or gone entirely. accessing podcasts from this panel ensures you return to the place in the feed where you were before; accessing via the bubble (even an episode-specific bubbble!) or the show when searched generally sends you to the newest episode or first episode. i listen to podcasts with hundreds of episodes and am always somewhere in their back catalogue.

it is infuriating every time the panel for accessing them disappears and I would love to know if there is any way to pin it or otherwise ensure it is always on the home page. i assume there is no way. i have googled this issue so many times and found nothing. all the results are about not wanting a particular podcast to show up in the bubbles on homescreen. also an infuriating issue but not the one that does my head in most.

help gratefully received, but also commiseration gratefully received if no help is possible. thank you

hey all, I have noticed a weird thing. it is community day, and I have been doing steps. i have grown some large seedlings, meaning 10,000 steps, albeit with the full growing bonus of 95%, so let’s say that’s 5000 steps, but the step count only registers 1800 steps. i know sometimes there is mismatch between steps taken and steps recorded in the app at all, but why this mismatch between steps recorded for seedling purposes and steps recorded for step purposes? surely the same data should feed both?

update: now I have recorded 17000 steps via seedling (so somethibg like 7000-8000 actual, with the planting bonus) and step count is only 3600

I have an 11yo standard dachshund and am about to get a little mini dachshund puppy, 10weeks old, next Sunday. I remember from my older dog’s puppyhood how intense it all was so am super prepared!

The new dynamic I wondered about was the issue of the puppy getting a lot of treats and toys and kongs and stuff for training, and my older dog not getting any. I do not generally give her treats because she is allergic to lots of things and because as a dachshund keeping her lean is extra important. I also don’t want her begging so I have just never given her treats after puppyhood.

Do I risk a behaviour issue or jealousy etc if I am giving the puppy all her stuff and Ween gets none? I have bought her some extra toys and will do a little training with her too so she will not get nothing, and the puppy will get a lot of her treat/kongs in her pen or crate, so possibly out of view of Ween, but the puppy will inevitably get more and there will generally be more treats around.

I would welcome any thoughts you have on this. thank you!
