Going to replace transom board… how big does it need to be?

This 12 ft semi v hull boat used to have a 2.3hp Honda on it. Got this boat trailer and original motor for super cheap. Replaced it with a 8hp mercury. Used to only do 6mph now will do 20. Awesome. It has this transom board outside and an even worse shape plywood one inside. Both are barely bigger than the motor footprint itself. I’m going to replace them because they’re old and rotten. For an 8hp do I need to make a full width board for inside? Or will a small set of inner and outer boards like this suffice?

Not quite a Jonboat… Semi V hull 12 inch aluminum 1984 Sears GameFisher…

Just a reference for anyone that might be considering various options. I weigh 170 pounds, and with my four-year-old and seven-year-old and a cooler and gear we can get up on plane and hit 19 miles an hour with an 8hp mercury four stroke.

Cheapest depth finder/fishfinder

Don’t necessarily care about finding fish more interested in real time depth tracking so that I can learn my own river ecosystem a little bit better. Priorities are true real time function… So a fast refresh rate as it were… If it also finds fish for the same price point, then I would be interested I guess. Suggestions?

Eastern PA. What kind of Yellowjacket is this? I have previously gotten lit up in years past by a larger variety in the same time of year…. today these got me all over but the reaction wasn’t as severe. Not sure if they’re just tiny or a different variety.

There’s something about a small boat on the river at night…

Slight leak… JB weld?

I got this old aluminum Sears Gamefisher along with the motor and trailer for nearly free. Been a lot of fun so far. However there is a very slow leak from what I believe is the back end (arrows). I have a Battery powered bilge pump and a bucket just in case… but even when running it for a few hours at most I get a little puddle sloshing around back. I’m wondering if I can just put a bead of JB marine weld along the inside of the back seam and maybe along the outside too?

I’m sure everyone asks but …. I. The market for a boat and have questions.

Looking for a pontoon to carry 4 adults and 4-5 kids, light enough to tow 2 hours of easy driving with a ford maverick (4000 lbs), powerful enough to tube and ski (beginner to intermediate skiers nothing extreme needed). Goal is to stay below $15k. On our local Facebook it’s hard to find a 18 or 20 foot boat with a 115hp 4 stroke probably because they get snatched up instantly. I guess my questions are …. Should I consider older 2 stroke 115-125 hp motors? Should I find a 16 or 18 foot boat with a 25-40hp motor for $5k and then buy a Yamaha 115hp and swap it ? Very new to this market and limited background so please forgive me bonehead questions. Would love to hear anybody’s wisdom.

Hypothetically, if I had an extra ticket for the show next week in Bethlehem, PA…

I’d probably be willing to part with it for a couple of bucks. DM meme

Title says it all. Using the g5 barrel and g5 backplate but otherwise all Glock brand g4 parts in the g4 slide. Thoughts ?
