My pet peeve

I really hate when people talk about TI like it is music meant for being high.

When I tell people I went to his concert they ask “did you smoke” or “how much were you tripping”. Like is his music amazing when you are faded, of course. But I feel like the entire discog is meant to be enjoyed sober, and i often find that being the best time to listen.

Musicians take on Kevin’s B stage performance

I don’t make music, but I thought it was really sweet seeing Kevin’s b stage performance live. It feels like you can actually watch him do what he does in real time.

That being said, are there any musicians that know how much of this is prerecorded, mixed, or made ahead of time vs live? Is he actually recreating the mixes of these songs or is he just kinda playing around on the machines? How much is real time and how much is prerecorded?

Lincoln commercial filmed at the GRAM

Between this and the Jeep commercial on 6th street bridge, I’m glad to see these companies using our city!

I’m super jealous of the kid Kevin let play drums

I’ve been drumming to Tame Impala for years, and if I had the opportunity I’d crush it. I will be going to the July 6 show in Miami, and am wondering if this is the type of thing Kevin would do again.

I have tickets for GA, and am thinking about making a sign. I know that holding signs in GA can be an asshole move for people behind you, and part of me thinks that i shouldn’t even try.

For anyone who has been to multiple concerts, what are my chances of playing a song with him if I made a sign? Worth trying or is it a pipe dream? I’m hoping Kevin might Let It Happen.

How are you guys getting these paper set lists?

I’m going July 6 in Miami, and have general admission. What’s the strategy with those things?

Whenever someone is new to Tame Impala, this is the song I point to. This is the song that made me a fan.

  1. This has the catchy loop that Kevin is known for. A tune you can hum to, sing to, dance to, and one that stays in your head for hours. The song feels like it goes on forever, in the best way possible.

  2. Although this is not the most impressive drums Kevin has made, the drums are central to the song. Groovy beat, but extremely creative fills that break it out of a loop. Kevin has said in multiple interviews that drums are his favorite part of his creative process, and this song is evident of that. No electronics, or simple loops, just Kevin being creative and groovy.

  3. This song can be played at a party and recognized, this song can be smoked to, played in the car on a summer day. During the deadbeat tour, this song has been the greatest to hear in person IMO. It isn’t as large of a hit as Let It Happen and TLIKTB, but the vibe it brings to the arena is unreal.

Ultimately, this is peak Kevin. Before the currents hype, tiktok songs, and the slow evaporation of traditional drum sets from his music. It truly doesn’t get better than this.

It looks like Kevin has barely (if ever) played this song during his deadbeat tour. Why? I looked at the setlists for multiple arenas and I was shocked since I thought this was one of his all time greats.

(Also “is it true” needs to be played as well)
