Neighborhoods with fancy coffee and arty shops?

I'm in town for business this week and am looking for a good neighborhood to just wander through and drink good coffee/eat good pastries while popping into random local artisan shops to bring back some cool souvenirs. What's a good neighborhood to do this in for an afternoon break from work?

On his last legs

We've got a fair number of spider friends in our basement that I keep tabs on and I was watching this big guy move oddly across the floor and then just stop. There's still a little bit of movement here and there but seems like it's time for this fella. Never seen a spider at this stage before, was sad to see, but nature moves on I suppose (and thanks for his service in keeping the basement free of pests)

DC displays

Recently unpacked my figures after we finished a home renovation and am finally getting around to setting them back up. Right now only have the DC stuff set up but wanted to share!

Someday they'll hopefully make official comic book versions of Green Lantern and Aquaman and Martian Manhunter, but for now I may just stick some McFarlanes in the back of the JLA display so the scale isn't too obtrusive.

Right way to cross-brace this fence

Our front gate is sagging 2 years after it was installed, and especially during the dry seasons will get caught on the pavers when swinging in. As I understand it I should be able to solve this with a cross brace, but what's the best way to brace this that wouldn't cover the chicken wire part of the fence and retain full visibility? Would I also need to put additional horizontal braces so that the cross brace can be probably set between them?

New housemate

After living in this house for about 6 years, this is the first year we've seen some jumpers in our home in the PNW! This little fella jumped onto my hand and then descended onto the floor from a line attached to my finger, it was super cute.

We're wrapping up a home renovation and both our contractor (who is great and is working with us to figure it out thankfully) and I are stumped by a weird smell that we're getting near this one branch box. We replaced our ducted system with these Mitsubishi heat pump mini-splits (single family home in Seattle), and there are four heads connected to this one branch box in the basement. At first we thought it smelled like natural gas and got the city to come out and check, but nothing could be detected. We have another exterior branch box for the upstairs and haven't noticed anything strange with that unit after using it for the last several months.

We're getting another technician to come out to check on it (the last one couldn't figure anything out), but I was wondering if anyone here has encountered weird smells from their mini-split system? We had the basement system installed like 5 months ago and it pretty much sat un-unused through the winter while the rest of the reno was happening, and when we turned it on a week ago there was definitely a smell coming from around this branch box. Weirdly, if you turn the four heads to fan, the smell doesn't seem to spread to them, but if you turn them all to either heat or cool, only the head unit that's just on the other side of the wall of this closet will spread the smell and the other units don't at all.

Could it be a dead animal near the branch box? Some kind of grime that built up in the system while it sat turned off for 5 months? Demons? Open to any ideas!
