What actually qualifies a business as a “small business”?

I often see businesses being categorized as “small businesses,” but what’s the actual criteria behind that? Is it based on annual revenue, number of employees, industry type, or something else? For example, if a company has 20–50 employees but decent revenue, does it still count as a small business?

Google Confirms SEO Still Matters in Generative AI Search

Google just clarified that traditional SEO best practices still play a major role in AI-powered search experiences like AI Overviews and generative search.

Interesting part:

  • AI responses rely on Google’s core ranking systems
  • RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pulls from indexed web pages
  • Strong content + authority still matter
  • GEO/AEO is basically evolving SEO, not replacing it

What changes do you think SEO agencies and content creators should make for AI search visibility?

Google is now pulling social media posts directly into Google Business Profiles.

They’re calling it the “Social Media Updates” carousel, and it can show your latest posts from connected social channels right on your Profile.

Google is making it clear that social media is becoming a very important part of every business’s local SEO strategy. And I think this matters for AI visibility too.

Here’s what you need to do if you want your social posts to show on your Google Business Profile:

  1. Connect your social profiles to your Business Profile.
  2. Stay active on social.
  3. Bonus tip for AI: I suggest creating social posts about your services, offers, products, locations, and expertise, rather than only posting fun or educational content.

If your socials are active, Google can give that content extra visibility. And the more clearly you describe what your business does, the easier it is for AI systems to understand your business and recommend you.

Is adding llms.txt actually helping websites rank in AI search / LLM results?

Lately there’s a lot of discussion around `llms.txt`, with some calling it the new robots.txt for AI crawlers.

Some say adding it helps LLMs better understand website content and improves visibility in tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Gemini. Others think it’s mostly hype and not something that makes a measurable difference right now.

Has anyone actually tested this and seen real impact? Curious whether adding `llms.txt` is becoming important for AI visibility or if it’s still too early to matter.

100+ 5-star reviews, top 3 in local pack but GBP interactions are flat. Need valid answers?

https://preview.redd.it/0dhgwe1zww0h1.png?width=1472&format=png&auto=webp&s=5f9e883a27154fedd20c01ed68cb7530acea5c4c

Need some outside perspective from local SEO folks.

We manage a business profile with:

  • 100+ genuine 5-star reviews
  • Ranking in top 3 map pack for most high-intent target keywords
  • Solid profile optimization (photos, services, categories, posts, etc.)

But Google Business Profile interactions aren’t growing the way rankings suggest they should.

Last 6 months show mostly flat performance with some dips.

Things already considered:

  • Review quality/velocity
  • NAP consistency
  • GBP optimization
  • Keyword rankings

What would you audit next?

This is Happened, When you trust AI too much for SEO content… and paid for it.

AI can generate words. Humans build trust, experience, originality, and strategy.

Now we’re moving back to an AI + human workflow:

  • AI for research/support
  • Humans for strategy, editing, EEAT, intent matching, and quality control

Curious if anyone else has seen traffic decline after going too heavy on AI content?
