Basic box

I have played Festival lead for months and really like it. However I am struggling with all the pult and dead hands you get. I have looked at basic box but honestly I haven't really won a single game on PTCGL. Not one.

I get that it's a reactive deck and you are aiming to take a prize card asap, start with Kang, Crispin for grass for Teal and one for attacker etc. But I honestly cannot do anything with it. I feel like I have hit a wall. With Festival Lead I have done well in person, multiple top 4 finishes (but never won, hence trying to change the deck, always losing to Pult) and always hitting the master league on PTCGL.

So I have some skills, but this is so very different. Please can someone point me in the right direction, or give me some tips. I've tried for 4 days, an hour or so each time, and only win if they do really badly or they concede because they think I am do something I can't. I haven’t ever won properly.

Father's day surprise

Hi all, my husband is a huge collector is vintage pokemon cards. I want to get him something special for Father's day (in the UK its this month). I wonder if this community knows of any errors or collector interesting ones he might like. He currently has;

Completed base, fossil, jungle, team rocket and black star promos (hes not interested in base set 2 or gym heros etc)

Banned and non banned versions

Pre release ones for the sets above

Movie ones (stamped and sealed ancient mew, and the pokemon movie stamped set)

Are there any niches in the vintage cards. He has a few 1st editions, jungle error symbol etc. But i wonder if there are any more.

Error artist for the three legendary birds

Best EU regional venue?

Hi all, I was wondering what your experiences were with European venues for the regionals.

I went to Birmingham, UK this yesr but I also wanted to try going into mainland Europe for next season. I'm interested to know what your favourites were are what the biggest and smallest ones were. I also plan on getting to EUIC for the next season. What was that like for you?

How can I go from collecting to competing?

Hi all, my son has been playing Pokemon GO since it started and hes now a teen. We have been playing competitive Pokemkn TCG but he also wants to try the Pokemon GO scene.

This kid is always on it when we are out, he checks the stats of what hes caught and has been doing loads of gym battles and PVP.

How does he make that leap from collecting and casual play to more competitive play. Are there certain resources or videos you would recommend?

Does he beed to be a certain level or have pokemon a certain level? We play the TCG together but this is a new one for me so im trying to understand as much as possible to help him.

Thanks for your time.

Player habits during TCG matches good/bad

Hi all, I have been playing for a few months now and I am still getting to grips with the game. I noticed a lot of players who play on stream and do well at tournaments have similar habits and I wondered if there was a reason for them.

  1. They play really fast, putting down the ultra ball with the cards already they want to discard, sometimes straight into the discard pile (which I always check after one guy tried to just discard the one card and hope I didn't notice). Or they pick a buddy buddy from a search card and then as they put it down they put down the two basic with it. They shuffle fast and play fast then pass to me. I play as fast as I can but it feels really slow compared to them.

  2. They flick the cards between eachother as they hold their hand, flicking them like rearranging them quickly.

  3. (only seen at locals) Slapping the cards down fast and loudly on the table, some cards of theirs are then bent almost from repeated acts like this I guess.

  4. (only seen at locals) Putting their deck way onto my mat, or the stadium etc for me to cut. I feel it's a little aggressive, I dont mind when it's on the boundary or near the top, but when they put it over my prize cards, the stadium in play or over my active pokemon it seems strange. Particularly as I am currently in my turn, doing my play and then this deck is delivered over cards I'm reading over or attaching energy to.

Please help eBay purchase

Hi, this card arrived today and I am worried it might be fake. It doesn't have the grey line down the edges like other cards do. I have attached pictures to show.

Can some one advise? Its such a sweet card and I don't want to be scammed. I've put the edges side by side with a card I pulled for comparison.

Thanks for your time

Jungle symbol misprint?

Hi all, I don't have much experience with this, but I wondered if anyone knew about if my Mr.Mime holo from the jungle set is an error misprint.

The jungle symbol isn't as prominent as the others. I have added for comparison next to it another non holo Mr.Mime and a holo Jolteon

Thanks for your time.

Misprint jungle set?

I have this holo Mr.Mime and I noticed the jungle logo is not as prominent as the other Mr.Mime I have. The holo Jolteon for comparison.

Is this an error? Should I hold onto it or bundle it with the rest of my partial vintage sets im off loading?

Thanks for your time.
