Romance books yap too much

Maybe I haven't read actual good Romance books, since I've only started reading Romance novels this year. But I find most books I've read talk too much about how the characters feel or think. Let me use my brain to analyze the story and relationship! It feels especially worse when it's dual first-person POV.

An example: character A seeing character B and then the book narration keeps saying how hot the character B is. Or how much they used to be close. Etc.

Or character A did something, then the writer needs to explain it immediately.

I can't stand it 😭

Everywhere I go I see his ass.

What if Doro spent his time doing a proper business instead of whatever he did as hobby.

Wild Seed by Octavia

I'm not sure if it would count as Dark Romance because it's more of a Scifi book with a fucked up relationship but uhmmm if you want messy problematic abusive bond between 2 only shapeshifting immortals in the world... Yeah. LOTS of trigger warnings. It'll make you think a lot about humanity and such. Their relationship is pretty much cosmic psychological horror domestic abuse 😭😓 but damn if it's not complicated between them.

It is a book about heavy topics. Their relationship is brutal and non-romanticized. It'll also probably be unlike other books you've read.

Wild Seed

I finished it as the first book in the series and not sure if I could move on 🗿. I find it has already ended so perfectly for me and I love love love Anyanwu and Doro weirdass relationship. I am obsessed with both of them as a character but maybe even more for Doro. It's rare to find a villain this despicable and inhumane, yet still so very complex.

Anyway, Doro kinda reminded me of Bondrewd from Made in Abyss. I have SO MUCH thoughts about Doro.

I think I don't know enough about Eugenics in history

I finished reading Xenogenesis and Wild Seed and I knew it's a criticism to Eugenics, but I feel like I have knowledge of it in a vague sense. It drove me to research about this topic to understand more.

I'm not American and I am kinda ignorant on this topic 😓. Does anyone want to offer me an insight? Thank you.

Xenogenesis

I love the Xenogenesis series. One thing that I've been wondering is: will people actually care that much about not being able to produce children naturally?

I'm in my 20s and most of the people my age don't want children. Don't even want to get married. I'm sure it would be such a case for younger people as well.

It seems to be a thing that triggered resisters into hopelessness, but personally I don't even think it's such a big deal. The Oankalis left them alone besides this. I mean it's not good to have your choice taken away obviously but would it trigger such extreme reactions in humans?

Book recs with same dynamic as System AI and Carl

I want a book exploring romantic elements with somewhat similar dynamic to System AI and Carl from Dungeon Crawler Carl. Preferably MF but others are ok too.

It's pretty much unhinged psychopathic obsessive encompassing God/entity/AI who toys with their interest. Sometimes good and sometimes bad depends on their mood swing or even just their existence. The entity can be the environment itself. The tone is psychological/cosmic horror. The protag is defiant and not so helpless.

Something like {Thrum by Meg Smitherman} also is ok.

And I'm currently reading {Land of the Beautiful Dead by R. Lee Smith}

Jaga and the Devil series

Just finished this series by Layla Fae and omg I love it so much. It has one of the most villainous mmc (literally the devil). Slavic folklore. It's dark, psychological and unhinged in a way that is so satisfying to me. Like, yeah this is how horrifying a God's interest could be. It explores traumas and let characters be flawed and damaged. Love doesn't miraculously solve problem and fix people. So much hate and love and despair. Hope people give it a try.

Finished the Last Hour of Gann

It took me a long time to read but once I finished, I would like something lighter to read but it all seems boring in comparison. Not just about the plot, but fhe way character's inner monologue felt too flat. Ughh it's a struggle to find something to read now 🤣.
