Missing insights, no AI adjustments and other questions

One thing I don't understand is the editing of sleep times. I wish I would've taken a screen shot or noted it, but yesterday morning when I ended tracking it wanted to tell me I didn't go to sleep until nearly 2am, which I think is what that caution marker is that says "Nap". I was in bed by 8pm but didn't go to sleep until about 11pm and was up at 445am.

Then the insights for last night don't exist, what you see is my wife, who's still in bed right now. Again, when I woke up this morning I ended the tracking, about 450am. But after that I got nothing. It never gave me any info for last night. Clearly it's working as it's reading her cause she's probably partially rolled over to my side.

For some context, I prefer a much colder bed and because of this and the fact I tend to stay up with her till about 11pm, I have my sleep schedule set for midnight. I do this that way I can maintain the temp I want and then by the time I'm going to sleep is when it's changing to my sleep temps, which are still a little high for me, but close. However, that shouldn't be why I'm not getting any data at all.

While the lack of/missing data tells me the sensors aren't working correctly, clearly they're picking her up no problem so I don't think it's a sensor issue.

On to my next concern. Has ANYONE seen Orion Intelligence make any changes to their sleep stages lately? This was our 3rd night on it and I haven't seen a single change between either of us. I tried searching the sub for "auto adjustments" and "orion intelligence" to no avail. It almost seems as if this doesn't exist and that the only thing Orion Intelligence is providing is the sleep insights. While I do find them interesting, I think most people who buy this sleep hot and just want to adjust the temps so they don't end up waking up multiple times a night sweating and throwing the covers off just to wake up again cold and bringing them back on.

So far I have 3 nights of inconsistent data that I do NOT trust at all. The first night was a weekend, so no alarms set and I slept till I woke up and went to bed around midnight. I had work following the next two nights and it didn't even think I went to sleep until 2am and provided no data last night. Luckily I didn't pay for the first year of intelligence so I'm not out any money but I'm still very much undecided on whether we're keeping this or not. I've only become more conflicted as the days have gone on and closer to returning it than keeping it. I want to make it clear, we very much do plan to use the trial time to become more educated and work with support to get as much out of this we can before making a final decision.

I added two pictures from the website. One says that the system gets better night after night (my experience has been the exact opposite) and that it uses the data to make adjustments for the following night. The last photo says it "maintains your perfect temperature through all sleep stages", that is conflicting information and I think it makes people think this will adjust in real time. It does NOT do this, although I think it absolutely has the ability to, it's just a matter of updates to the app, the tech is already there.

Why do I have to manually end the tracking every day? The system knows when you get in and get out. It would stand to reason that if it can decipher movements, awake and asleep it should know when to end tracking itself also.

Also, why does it not shut off at all unless you manually turn it off or have the auto off 30 minutes after your wake up schedule? I got home yesterday to it on, 4.5-5 hours after my wife left the house for work. That is ridiculous to me, and there should be a set time, even if it was 1 hour, there should be something that tells it to turn off if it has no readings from the sensors.

If possible, I'd like to know what the roadmap looks like. What features are planned to be released, what features are a hard pass that you have no plan on releasing? Most, if not all, peoples issues are fixable without having to upgrade any equipment, everything is already there and in place. The only thing that people physically need are hose extensions, everything else can be done remotely, either updates sent to the system or changes/additions to the app. It's taken months to roll out some things so it stands to reason why I would like to know what the roadmap consists of because a 30 day trial isn't long enough to see where this thing is headed. Having some knowledge about what we can expect may not only sell more customers but keep current ones.

I'll be honest, when I think of how Orion Intelligence works, it seems like old tech to me, making changes the day after, preparing for the next night (even though I haven't even seen this myself). I have a hard time differentiating the basic fundamentals of the system being a cooling/heating system and all the extra tech that is offered. While on one hand, yes we bought this to try and help my wife with her hot/cold flashes, we also bought it for the tech behind it, which is supposed to make that a better and faster process. If all you we/you need it for is cooling, there's no reason to spend this much money, other systems exist that can do the same for a faction of the cost. I just feel that none of the tech is really working as it was designed or should be working vs the potential it has. I think the MCP and HA integration could also fix some of my complaints, but those aren't practical fixes for a lot of people. While our decision is based off our experience, it says something when you have to find outside fixes for things the company could do themselves. If I can have HA do a lot of this stuff for me Orion could definitely make them actual features right?

All of this combined has me considering that we should wait for the Somnus or Celsius to come out in the US. While the grass isn't always greener on the other side and they're sure to have their issues and kinks to iron out, they're both offering real time temp changes to keep you comfortable all night, it's not something that is on their roadmap, it's a core foundational feature. Somus pricing seems about where you'd expect it to be, it looks like they'll be right about half the difference between Orion and ES. For a comparable king between ES and Orion you're looking about $1k more for ES, so Somnus should be about $500 more than an Orion. Seems Celsius has decided to really disrupt the market and a king size will come in just over $1k. I'm not surprised, there isn't nearly as much money in these as you'd think. Just like how the mattress industry has a standard 1000% markup from manufacturing to box store sales. Mattresses cost pennies to make and they charge thousands, it's truly and factually a racket. But when every manufacturer inflates the cost and no one goes against it, there's not much you can do. I think Orion did a decent job at cutting current competitors prices, but it's still high. Celsius could succeed by doing this or get knocked out for threatening these companies bottom line, I suspect ES will be adding them to the lawsuit as soon as they're available for purchase as well, especially at their pricing.

Hose legnths?

Curious if anyone has issues with the hoses not being long enough on the pod 4 or 5? If so has it always been an issue? It not, was it ever an issue?

Night stand issues? Please read and comment

I'm curious how many people have returned this/haven't purchased or are on the fence because of the hose length? It seems that unless you have the world's smallest night stand, you can't have your night stand between your bed and tower.

I'm also curious if anyone has;

  1. Come up with any ideas to keep it if you do have a nightstand, other than getting rid of their nightstand

  2. Flipped the topper and put the tower at the foot of your bed? If so, did you notice any difference in accuracy or big change on how it tracked your sleep? Did not being able to tuck your sheets in all the way make a difference?

  3. Have this system along with a fan on their nightstand? Are you experiencing your fan blowing warm/hot air at you?

If you have done any of these things, what was your outcome of them, good or bad? Did one solution create another problem? Did you have another solution that I didn't think of, if so what?

Any and all experiences, thoughts, opinions are welcome. I'm looking for any information on this issue I can find.

TAP TAP TAP.......... IS THIS THING ON?

It seems like the app has died. The dev refuses to respond to anyone, no new posts or comments, yet still have plenty of issues and questions. While I had high hopes, i'll keep checking back to see if he actually starts to care and takes the community he built seriously. Other than that, there are plenty of apps out there up and coming that actually have support that doesn't make you feel like you're a bother.

Questions

Hey there, new subwcriber here. I have some questions regarding the app and I'm hoping to hear about changes that might be coming in future updates.

  1. After downloading and paying for a month sub, I noticed there wasn't a preview in live tv. I ended up finding that option in the settings and turned it on. However, there is no audio in the guide when you're previewing the channel, is that going to be something that happens?

  2. Once the preview is turned on and you go back to the guide a few things happen. The preview is not there until you click on something, even if you were already watching a channel. Second, the guide opens back up with the category folders open as well rather than just full screen guide in the folder you were already watching. You have to click left a few times, scroll to the folder you want to look in again, and then it will go back to the full screen guide. Normally, an app would just go straight back to the full screen guide with the same channel you were watching already back in the preview window.

  3. Its rare from what I've heard, but my provider gives captions/subtitles for most of my live TV channels. This is a feature that seems to be missing in most of these newer app, so I'm sure there's a reason why that is, I just don't know it lol.

Other than that, the app is cool, has a UI that attracts the eye just like several other newer apps. I've been lucky enough to be a long time sub with my provider and am grandfathered in when my provider offered vod using the emby app. Due to their changes, my provider hasn't offered it in years but the customers that are still around have gotten to keep it. And if you've used emby for vod, then your standards are pretty high. Players like tivimate have a major downside, vod, which is why there's a demand for apps like this. Emby is the opposite, while it's amazing for vod, it's worse for live tv than tivimate is for vod. The feature that shines the most in emby is their "next-up" section. Any show that's added to your favorites will pop up when a new episode is released in this row. From my reading, it's because emby uses its own library to cross examine you provider list to its databases that are fed by places like imdb. I may be off a bit on my explanation, but that's the gist of what I got when I was researching. Will this be a feature than can be brought to aerial? Thanks and keep up the great work.

Live tv subtitles

I've tried asking several times in the last 3 days if you have a ETA on getting subtitles from providers (or your own) to work in live tv. You stated a couple months ago that it is on your list of things to do. It's basically the one feature keeping me from purchasing a subscription. My wife doesn't like to watch anything without them, so that kinda hinders the live TV side of the app useless for me, therefore I'd rather not purchase until I can use viewella and nothing more, or if it's at least close and on your radar. Thanks.

Amazing deal on driver side window regulator with motor & auto up/down (7 pin) for $12

Just wanted to share this awesome score I found on amazon. $12 for the front driver side window regulator with the motor, and it's a 7 pin so it works with the auto up/down functions. There's 18 left, was 19 but I bought one. According to Keepa, this was, and has been, at $45 up until yesterday, so who knows how long this deal will last! https://keepa.com/#!product/1-B0DL357J1L I would buy one just to have, as it's not if but when they fail, they WILL fail!

We'll see.....

A few weeks ago after the 100th time (obviously exaggerating, but it's a lot) of the epg no longer loading after 24 hours, without a fresh install or clearing the data, that I would no longer do that. Instead, I decided that I would see if any of the updates actually fixed this issue like they said they would. As of today's 1.1.39 update, my epg has still not returned. Doesn't matter if I clear cache or refresh the epg, it'll sit on "awaiting" for a long time before turning to "no information".

I will say I'm glad to see all channels, even duplicates, when it's NOT in app managed mode, like it should being that's what it states. It would not do this about a month ago. So that's a plus I guess.

I am still patiently waiting for subtitles (captions) that my service provides, to actually be usable by the app, so far it's a no go.

I still have vod content that is 1000% available in any other app I use, even though viewella disagrees, like it knows better lol.

All of these things have been issues for a while and no update has fixed them. I decided today to clear data and to a restart to see what happens in the upcoming days. As expected, the epg did come back after clearing data and registering the device again.

Lastly, on the home page, the row names disappear when you scroll down to them. The thumbnails get bigger and then do not get smaller again, even if you go to a different tab and then back to the home tab. When this happens, it covers up the rows name, like "continue watching". This is a newer issues, only starting in the last few days to a week after an update

New update, same issues.

First, you've been behind on your version number for several updates, you're on 1.1.32.

After updating the appt from 1.1.30, all the same epg issues still exist. The app is not updating the guide info. Even a refresh from the setting produces no new results.

Subtitles still aren't an option for live TV even though my provider provides them.

Movies shows content I know I have as unavailable.

Navigation is acting strange. When clicking to the right in the rows on movies and shows tab it will go left once before going right again.

Had to go into app settings to allow microphone. App should bring up a message stating this needs to be done as it installs with the permission off and never asks for permission or tells you it needs it.

Updated version, still not updating EPG.

I opened up viewella yesterday and had to update to 1.1.29. After it did that, it opened again and then had to update to 1.1.30. Not sure why it does 1 at a time and not just straight to the newest version.

Anyway, this is what my guide looks like today. No info on most things and the things it does have info is only because those think started a while ago. Looks like anything that started past 3pm PST, doesn't have any info.

I'm guessing that I did the updates around 3pm yesterday and that it's only saving/loading 24hrs if epg at a time. But it's still not auto updating.

Even if I force an epg update in settings it won't apply even though I watch it find it. This is something that was working in 1.1.28 if I remember correctly.
