Which boots for getting into adventure riding?

Hi everyone,

Having held my license for 6 months and riding a V-Strom 800DE, I want to start taking it gently onto dirt tracks to try my hand at off-roading.

I'm looking for advice on choosing my boots. I had my eye on the Alpinestars Toucan, but some feedback points out that they might be a bit too soft if the bike falls on me.

Is it better to go straight for MX/enduro boots like the Tech 7? It seems a bit overkill for starting out on easy, unpaved roads, but safety first.

Any opinions or feedback from experience with adventure bikes of this size? Thanks in advance!

Merci d'avance !

Has the Ricoh GR IV autofocus improved since launch? (10 months later)

Hi everyone,

I owned the GR III for two years and absolutely loved it, but the low-light autofocus was a constant frustration. As soon as the GR IV was announced, I pre-ordered it and got it on day one, hoping for a fix.

Unfortunately, the AF didn't feel much better at launch. I ended up selling it after a heartbreaking moment where it completely missed focus during my nephew's first time meeting Santa Claus—all I got was a blurry mess. I told myself I was done with Ricoh.

Since then, I bought a Fujifilm X100VI. Honestly, I prefer almost everything about it, except for the lens sharpness, the Ricoh easily beats it in that department. The main issue is that the X100VI is just too bulky to actually carry everywhere in my pocket.

I’m seriously considering coming back to Ricoh, but I have three main questions for current GR IV owners:

  1. Has the autofocus improved via firmware updates over the last 10 months? Especially in low light?
  2. Has the lens barrel sticking issue been fixed? I experienced the lens getting stuck on my copy, and I know several people here had the same defect at launch.
  3. Has the stabilization (IBIS) been optimized? I experienced a lot of unexpected blurry shots, and I know several people here reported issues with the stabilization system at launch. I've never got these blurry shots on the GR III at same shutter speed.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Achat voiture électrique (LOA pro vs Perso & IK) ? Vos avis ?

[SSK059] The best white dial Seiko ?

My first white dial, and it’s an absolute stunner!

I stumbled upon this Seiko just two weeks ago. Honestly, I have no idea why it’s not even listed on the official store yet, but it is an absolute banger!

To level it up, I immediately swapped the stock strap for a braxen jubilee bracelet, and the combo is just pure perfection. I didn't have a single white dial in my collection until now, and I couldn't be happier with this choice.

What do you guys think?
