Most problems at Knott's can be traced back to the same thing.

Starting pay at Knott's: $16/hr

Starting pay at Disney: $21/hr, automatic raise to $24 after one year, w/ union protection

"You get what you pay for" applies to labor just like it does every other commodity.

What are the odds of being hired for a leasing job if I'm not already in the area? I'd like to pivot into leasing, but I live in a job desert and both staffing agencies I've talked to have told me there's nothing they can do for me, living where I do.

I'd love to get out of here, but for obvious reasons, I'm leery of doing so without a job already lined up. Anybody know (or work for) a company that would hire someone from out of the area?

"No jobs in your area? Move where the jobs are!" /r/thanksimcured

Let's face it; working at the big box store doesn't pay enough for you to move where the jobs are. Even if by some miracle, you manage to make the move, you're betting your life savings that you'll be able to find a living wage before the money runs out.

I feel like the missing piece here is somebody to help you move and set you up with a place to live until you get your bearings. Vague idea, I know, but there's no harm in dreaming.
