U.S. Census 2026 survey recipients: What do we have in common?

For U.S. folks who have been bombarded with mailings for this weird off-cycle 2026 census survey, I’m curious how random the recipient pool really is. Food for thought:

- do you use your full name on instagram?

- did you file your taxes on time last year?

- did you file for unemployment in the past four years?

- did you vote for the current administration?

No need to answer in specifics, but I wonder if there is a pattern here.

Come get your dusty-ass sons

Come pick up your shiny-faced, broccoli-cut-having, disrespectful Chris Brown wannabe, thick-legged, do-nothing, skibbidy-nonsense 14-year-old menaces from the Cross-County courtyard. It’s time they went home and read a book.

Why so much burble tune?

In case you don’t know the term, it’s the obnoxious backfiring sounds that souped-up cars make. Why are there so many of these menace cars in southern Westchester? Granted, I live by the Cross County, so I’m besieged by constant loud pops and crackles, but where are these douchebags coming from? Why is this legal? I’M TRIGGERED!

A relative disparaged me to friends and family

I found out that a third cousin of mine (who I’ve only known for five years) told her friends and family that I was “crazy” because I don’t agree with their politics. She’s still inviting me to family functions because of her mom, but now the other people there treat me like I’m insane, which I am not. I feel she has compromised my reputation personally and professionally, and has undermined me out of jealousy. Her mom, who I adore, is quite senior in years and deserves a peaceful family dynamic, so I am loathe to confront the cousin at this point. However, I worry about the damage she will continue to wreak on her campaign to alienate me. What should I do?

Man carrying newborn

Tonight in the West Village I saw a man carrying a newborn in one arm with no sling or stroller, while he carried a shopping bag in the other hand. He had to stop to adjust the baby, and it scared me to see this sweet little babe in such a precarious position. The man was sweaty and frazzled, and he appeared to be alone. I asked him if he needed help and he said no. I’m not a parent or a baby-crazed person, but I can’t get the scenario out of my head. I’m sure there are a thousand reasons why he was in this situation, and that he probably has a mansion nearby, but for the love of god, man, be careful.

Fares increased?

I realize we’re in a period of incessant inflation, but overnight the uber fares increased by about 30-40%. Has anyone else noticed this?
