Specifically in the Lynnwood and Everett areas, I work late hours and don’t have a lot of friends who also work those hours. There’s nothing to do at 11pm, midnight or so when I want to unwind so I’ve just become a homebody. I know that there has to be other people with late hours nearby, hospital staff, Boeing factory workers, people in the events industry, etc

Ever wanted to hold a Fallen London themed dinner party to die for? I've spent a considerable amount of my time trying to puzzle out what foods could stand in for the foods your FLPC might have in their inventory. Most if not all of them are edible. Some spoilers may be ahead.

Feel free to ask about any in-game food or food related items that I haven't mentioned. These are all my personal interpretations of what these neathy foods would taste like when made from surface foods, and it's possible that I misinterpreted some of these. I'd love to see what the community thinks about the food in Fallen London!

Savory Food Items

Mutersalt: any seasoning salt. The in-game description implies that a chili or ginger salt would be the most lore-accurate, but a smoked salt or truffle salt may be most palatable. For the brave, Szechuan chili and ginger salt.

Tiny Silver Kettle of Pickled Liar's Tongues: braised pig's ear, lengua tacos, or chicharrones.

Hand-Picked Peppercaps: stuffed mushroom caps. Make them spicy!

Pot of Venison Marrow: this is an actual food but can be hard to source. Savory compound butter or bone marrow from another animal (like beef bone marrow) can stand in.

Genuine Rubbery Lumps: fried calamari, popcorn shrimp, or takoyaki.

Basket of Rubbery Pies: any battered or fried food. chicken nuggets, onion rings, tater tots, or mozzarella sticks. to be a little more accurate, savory hand pies, empanadas, or crispy fried gyoza.

Crate of Incorruptible Biscuits: any sort of crackers, I like saltines. bonus if you use real hardtack.

Murgatroyd's Fungal Crackers: fancier crackers, or some sort of bruschetta depending on your interpretation. Thinly sliced and toasted baguette or seasoned crackers would set these apart visually from the biscuits above.

Tin of Zzoup: any can of soup from the supermarket. there's plenty of opportunity to put a fun themed label on a regular can of chicken noodle if you're using it as decoration.

Tin of Murgatroyd's Jellied Mushroom Cakes: rather than eating what's in the description in-game, I would serve a mushroom and onion puff pastry tart with caramelized onion, cooked mushrooms, and a bit of swiss cheese.

Sausage About Which No One Complains: pigs in a blanket.

Deep Zee Catch: any seafood, like tinned fish or seafood entrees. text in-game implies that plenty of these items are tinned and aren't lying around the Neath raw... and wriggling

Tinned Ham: the real life equivalent of this item is tinned ham.

A Recipe for Zzoup: tomato soup

Ripened Wheel of Hellworm Cheese: any round cheese that you prefer, the funkier the better. I cannot imagine hellworm cheese as a pleasant brie or camembert, it feels like a limberger

A Turnip?: the real-life equivalent of a turnip is a turnip

Sweets, Desserts, and Candies

Plate of Scandalously Buttered Scones: scones or American buttermilk biscuits where jam is applied before the clotted cream

Prisoner's Honey: you can incorporate the idea of prisoner's honey by incorporating normal, non-hallucinogenic honey in various forms. honey soaked baklava, honey stuffed dates, or honey compound butter all come to mind

Dark-Dewed Cherry: actual cherries

Solacefruit: plums. the art for solacefruit is the same as the dark-dewed cherries, so I would interpret these as plums or apricots or any other stone fruit. if you like longan or lychee that's also an option

Genuine Rubbery Lumps (sweet): sweet fried dough, donut holes, fried choux pastry, or beignets

Basket of Rubbery Pies (sweet): hand pies, fruit turnovers, apple dumplings

Parabolan Orange-Apple: the in-game art looks like a pomegranate... so one of those. one could also make a citrus-spiced/infused applesauce or soak apple slices in orange juice

Station VIII Humbugs: buttermints! they're soft and melty and sweet but also not for everyone

Beatrice's Taper-Nut: it's not exactly a sweet but it is something I would represent with pecan praline or other candied nuts. one could also represent it with a single large Brazil nut.

Shuttered Cake: Battenburg cake or a princess cake or a nicely layered tiramisu

Bag of Fierce Mint Humbugs: andes mints, york patties, or ordinary peppermints

Box of Terrifying Candies: any drugstore candies would do, anything that comes in a box. I'm partial to Turkish Delights.

Extraordinary Drinks Cabinet (or beverages best served in an Entirely Non-Cult-Related Tea Set)

Amanita Sherry: sherry is an actual beverage, but I'd use a shirley temple or a tequila sunrise if you don't have sherry

Muscaria Brandy: brandy is an actual beverage, but I'd go for an old fashioned or some dark cola

Jasmine Tea Leaves: you may not believe this, but this is a real beverage

Unopened Bottle of Broken Giant 1899 "Century Label": any bottle that will not be opened where the point is you aren't opening it

Honeyed Laudanum: mead. non-alc I'd do ginger honey lemon tea or a honey-forward golen milk

Darkdrop Coffee: your coffee beverage of choice

Magisterial Lager: any lager or pale beer, for non-alc cream soda or root beer

Greyfields 1879: any red wine or red/purple grape juice

Greyfields 1882: white wine, or white grape juice

Morelways 1872: rose, or strawberry-kiwi juice/fruit drink

Strangling Willow Absinthe: absinthe is a real drink. non-alc I'd say pineapple juice

Fourth City Airag (Year of the Tortoise): Airag is a real drink that's still drunk in Mongolia to this day, but as a stand-in I would use kefir or calpico if kefir isn't your thing

Vial of Tears of the Baazar: I think it's extremely funny just to use water in this case. slightly less funny but also nice would be dye free electrolyte beverage

Vial of M_____'s B____: tomato juice or a bloody mary

Black Wings Absinthe: Jagermeister or a cola that you don't like. canonically this beverage is not a fun thing to drink

Greyfield's 1868 First Sporing: use a darker or heavier red wine, or cranberry juice

Bottled Oblivion: Malort

Hellworm Milk: actual milk. you could also have chocolate milk from a brown hellworm...

Lachrymose Chartreuse: chartreuese is a real beverage, but limeade would be an appropriate substitute

Morelways 1861 'Sporeburst': fruity soda or a mountain dew. this is a celebratory sparkling wine so a champagne or cheap sparkling wine would also be appropriate

Hesperidean Cider: hard cider or sparkling apple juice

Station VIII Kitchen Items:

Note: not all Station VIII items are described below as several of them are derivative of the below or are entirely humanly inedible. Spoiler on these items for pre-railway players.

I’m flying into O’Hare and one of the things I miss the most from when I lived in LZ was having a proper Italian Beef with heaps of giardiniera. I’ll be taking the Amtrak into Milwaukee shortly after my flight lands so I won’t have time for more than an Italian Beef or maybe a Chicago dog before I get on the train

Am I reading the wiki wrong or is there no way to raise the level cap for Dangerous Gains beyond >!218!<? Is this locked behind a late game story (I assume >!Firmament!<) like Watchful with >!Mr Spices’ pregnancy!< and Persuasive being >!completing the railway!<? I just got my Shadowy Gains to the level cap by stuffing a bunch of snakes into weasels and I thought it’d be nice to max out all my stats
