Eating disorders as they relate to addictive disorders-

I recently heard someone say this about a woman, in recovery and in recovery from addiction/alcoholism and in recovery from an eating disorder-this woman is also vegan-
“If they see what we both eat at least you could concentrate on bulimia instead of anorexia. That way, I could eat what I want and you could just throw up!”
As a counselor and aspiring psychology/therapist, having been I and around the recovery environment in a multitude of capacity- i have seen and heard so many people more concerned with the free meal they receive at whatever agency or for being part of a club. They have no compassion or comprehension of eating disorders.
This woman isn’t a counselor, and I still expected a certain level of decorum from her, anyway. The blatant lack of knowledge that:
1.) a eating disorder isn’t about food

2.) people don’t care when they’re insensitive about eating disorders

3.) it’s one of the most difficult to treat because the patient always has to have food to survive as a human.

4.) There are no know medical procedures or medications that specifically treat eating disorders-
( I don’t support pharmaceutical answers to any problem for anything longer than a detox for addicted individuals, but she does, so she should know this since she supports pharma)

5.) since the closing of many “psych “ units and loss of facilities specifically designed for eating disorders. substance abuse treatment is left with the additional need for facilitation of groups and treatment for these individuals with less than adequate curriculum.
in this case, personal “complications” of veganism are confused with “diet” and she took her anger out, on a selfish, uneducated display of insensitivity.
As a counselor and empathetic lover of life and living beings, that I don’t ever cause someone to feel this way or make harsh comments about something so intimate and personal.
I am taking into consideration she’s uneducated on the matter, and doesn’t seem interested no in anyone but herself, so I should keep that in mind.
Has anyone else experienced this disconnect in a clinical setting for addictive disorders?

Along with gambling, it seems like people with eating disorders are left to their own devices because other people don’t relate to it and don’t want to. Dual diagnosis curriculum barely covers these issues along with addiction. So, how are we, as counselors, clinicians, therapists and human beings, supposed to approach a person exhibiting hostility against these issues they don’t have a desire of knowing about? Some of them have struggling family members relying on support from those that say they care about them? I hate the answer is sometimes that they just really don’t care? And we aren’t trained to teach them.

Grass-fed and cage-free isn’t vegan- and I have a right of saying so-

Sometimes I forget that I have a right as a human and a constitutional right( needed for defensive scenarios when my posts are removed or have editing procedures) of speaking the truth about veganism and any other topic, really.
I think everyone knows that grass-fed and cage free animals are treated like a “recess”. They roam for a few short hours and are still cooped up in cages the entire night. “Grass-fed are still fed blood meal, since a percentage of grass makes it “grass-feed” somehow-
They add just enough grass into chicken feed for their purposes-
Cage-free are still hung upside down, electrocuted, sliced throats while conscious, engineered to a size unable to walk, unable to express their personality in a pecking order- and geese have their feathers ripped out without anesthetic or pain-killers-
And turkeys have their necks snapped and head cut off while hung upside down so they don’t run away-
Terms like “grass-fed” and “cage-free” are to keep the consumer purchasing their deception. They don’t have a happier life when they suffer and die the same way.
It’s a really manipulative practice to add short sentences combining them with “I’m so vegan”isms
I really hope someone who wants to advertise for meat or manipulate people they do it on another platform or post-
Where are the moderators when people slip this into their post and commentary?

Dear hyper-sensitive, mostly inaccurate “auto-moderator bot”- please stop removing my comments- I am and always will be vegan- go after the people advertising for animal products here- please 🙏

Okay “bot” moderator- I am vegan- i have been for a couple years and haven’t had meat or fish or chicken or anything like that since 2022- haven’t had any dairy products or animal products since 2024- please stop sending me auto-moderator about being flagged as “non-vegan”. It’s unprofessional and embarrassing for Reddit-
Concentrate on the people who advertise for beef or eggs or dairy on the r/vegan Reddit- it really shows a lack of ability to program your “auto” moderator and an unwillingness to have someone read the posts before you remove my comment- I reported a “bot” yesterday with the same information-
Concentrate on the people on vegan channels advertising non-vegan alcoholic beverages, non-vegan food sources, for instance, fast food and non-vegan products- dairy, cheese and meat that is labeled as such making people believe this isn’t a vegan channel!
Your platform could be liable for sharing information that is misleading-
You need to reengineer some sanity and precision in your responses-
Maybe read my other posts
Every whole day, every minute I’m vegan- I spend the time to read labels and avoid even canned items that are filtered with bone-char! Don’t send me any more auto-“flags” until you have the energy to find the posts I post and read the information-
There are people I don’t trust who aren’t vegan trying to sabotage vegan culture, in grocery stores and in media advertising -you’re not helping-
Find another site to propagandize your meat and animal products- you aren’t getting it here anymore
As a side note- I wasn’t even welcome at my counseling job anymore because of the meat and dairy industry if it’s not them it’s soy! worse than Scientologists (in my opinion) or some cult!
Any animal killer is a sociopath- read the post before you moderate- I’m sure a non-lazy AI is available-

Leg, Thigh, Gizzards-

I’m just thinking about how insane it really is when you consider people talking discussing and labeling meat using the same body descriptions a human has- it’s so common and normal for someone to say ugh “leg or a thigh”? I’m so disgusted, I’m sure before we were vegan this was such a normal conversation , and now it isn’t-
butt steak? Liver? Ox tail? …….Ribs?! (Pig or cow? Blekch) eating an entire rib cage- this was nothing to consider before- bacon is a sliced up baby piglet- they should just name it salted baby piglet tummy- “anyone want some pork ‘shoulder’?”
Words like- pigs “feet”- I haven’t eaten a pig foot. Leg, thigh and ribs ( the body part words) is so disgusting to me now I’m really surprised people are so brain-washed-

Why is it always assumed vegans are starving and malnourished?

There are so many ways to receive nourishment and sustenance from plant-based foods- an animal absorbs every source of protein from the plants they eat- it doesn’t make sense to eat an animal for protein when we can go straight to the source for the protein, vitamins, fiber, and every other nutrient we need-
It’s a myth that vegan food is low in calories, also. If you are a person who is concerned about calories you would have to be more careful eating a plant-based diet- unless you are a person who really enjoys vegetables and fruits and plain foods without animals products- vegetables, almonds, cashews, lentils, beans, fruits etc-
For those who eat processed vegan foods, it’s because they know they aren’t harming animals- if you want to also be health conscious, eating animal products isn’t healthy anyway
The point is that vegans aren’t starving- there are plenty of choices if you don’t prefer vegetables, and fruits and legumes, beans in their original state without processing-

If I see or hear one more person tout “halal” as ethical, I’m going to freak out-

“Halal” is still killing an animal that wants to be alive- there isn’t an ethical way of killing an animal that wants to be alive, not hunting, not slitting their throat so YOU have a more clean experience, it’s killing just the same.
It’s similar to saying “grass fed”, like we’re always discussing here in our vegan community- any killing is killing- just because they ate some extra grass before murdering them, doesn’t make it any more humane-
Stop posting pro-animal products on vegan platforms-
They have their own channels- they should sneak “halal” propaganda somewhere else-
I was trying to find names of goat slaughterhouses as some people after watching dominion insist we don’t kill animals like that here- yes, we absolutely do, just as horrific and there are laws preventing the filing of animal torture because it’s “bad for animal agra business”-
Every form of animal killing is inhumane- even “halal”.

Thankful to vegans before us-

I really want to make special mention of vegans who were vegan before the majority had any idea of what that truly meant- the vegan that didn’t have special plant-based cheese and vegan restaurants.
Vegan before us who didn’t have a wealth of video and personal material reference- special honor for those who did the footwork for the vegan infrastructure that is soon going to break open the cages of the tormented animal creatures called food source and entertainment-
without your first courage, we wouldn’t have the platform, the words/vocabulary, a vast supply of options and reasons- lists of food dyes and lists of companies and organizations that are tied to these we so easily avoid because - you were here when it was difficult-
You deserve credit for little bunny labels and vegan hearts- you deserve your own lifetime achievement for continuing on this path when the only choice was a passed around article from someone’s trip overseas and a hidden camera in a slaughterhouse-
Credit, honor and daily thankfulness for those that showed us the way and the knowledge you’ve passed to each of us and the entire world because you had the courage to be different before it was “trending”.
For the courage of being extreme in the face of opposition- we love you! ❤️🦜

Are we imposing on an animal’s habitat, or are they imposing on ours?

Since the beginning of time in every space known, we, humans have moved somewhere, decided it ours, taken the resources and people of native land and colonized/exploited them, same thing with animals, and every living creature we can do anything with- this entire Earth belonged to the animal kingdom first- they were here first-
It’s the classic scenario of the weaker “species” being exploited because they can’t speak for themselves in a language we can understand. Can everyone understand an animal crying or screaming in pain?
If I were a bee, would I appreciate having my entire colony torched with gas or taking what takes 6 honey bees to make one tsp of honey and replacing it with sugar water?
Yes, different, but the same- we should treat each other like stewards of the earth, friends of, compassion towards every living species- we are in their space, and most of the time we move them or created some version in a lab and then we call them pests-
If something is considered a “pest” do they feel pain less than another animal? I think mink are considered “pests” or classified as such for easier hunting and killing- do they feel less pain or care for the intrusion of their lands any less than we would if someone wanted to wear human skin?

Vegan Fail.

I’m to the point, every place, every connection, every store is an offense to most things considered vegan- I know certain stores in probably not allowed to ma roe the moderator will say it’s a personal attack- big superstores, that definitely support factory farming- and most of everything we need is from there- is the answer to find vegan friendly stores and find ways of continuing to cut things out? I’m so upset with myself, I just found out Febreeze/Proctor and Gamble does animal testing, like most chemical companies and they’re linked to pharmaceutical waste and animal pharma- I purchased not- vegan not-recycled- “made of whatever % ‘recycled product” and there’s a scent label , and it’s so many variant of “unvegan”- my make-up is vegan, but it’s in so much packaging- and I remember my friend who jumpstarted this evolution after years of ignoring the truth- said she was careful about packaging- I had a complete meltdown of what I was so unaware of, the large plastic island in the ocean with suffocated animals in plastic packaging- and I feel fogged when I’m in the store and need something- I don’t gamble but I’ve heard they don’t have clocks, stores are similar- there’s some energy that doesn’t support rational thinking- I still want glitter and sparkle- even have to find vegan sparkles or bubbles for children- as soon as I finish purchasing something- if I’m in the store, I start thinking of the things that assist the very factory farming I hate! I can say I hate factory farming- where am I shopping?!?!? I can say I try not to hate people that cut pigs tails off without pain killers and pull their teeth without anesthetic- I could say that…. my inner dialogue wouldn’t be so friendly - I feel really frustrated with myself when I’m spending and supporting with my eyes, ears? and location the antithesis of what I’m trying to uphold integrity with- I don’t want any “good enough” speeches- there isn’t good enough knowing what I know now- I have to find a way to memorize a list of and practice or whatever I have to do to satisfy my consciousness- it isn’t important to every person and it doesn’t have to be- I have been given a heart and emotional awareness that fights consistently with callus norms- I’m so thankful to have this platform to share and speak freely about- the sabotage and upset and the confusion I feel sometimes about another’s willingness of harming another living being and I don’t want any part of it- and still I find myself…. On this level not consuming animal products, but harming them by supporting organizations and stores that support harm- I don’t reside in Oregon, but I hope their petition goes through and other states follow in their pathway-(side note)

I watched the documentary “Dominion” for the first time-

I watched the documentary “Dominion” for the first time last night- I tried to turn it off mid-stream, the cruel torture and crying of the animals was so horrible, I turned it off, charged my phone for a minute- - sat and thought “I have a responsibility to watch this and make myself see what I do blatantly ignored for so many many years”/ I got up and turned it back on- when I did, they wouldn’t allow it for underaged viewers on Reddit- I started watching it here, I couldn’t find the original view so I watched it on YouTube- I just thought “that’s strange, viewers aren’t able to watch the entire thing on Reddit” and I don’t know why at my age I should be able to watch whatever but anyone could be trying to view it I guess- I’m sure it was an operator error- I don’t want to hear anyone say this doesn’t happen in the United States because we know it does- it happens everywhere the same way and these courageous filmmakers went in and took video of these horrific conditions, making sure to let the viewer hear the enjoyment the animal abuser were getting from kicking animals in the head, slamming them on the ground, leaving water animals (aquatic) ducks without any water to swim in,
showing the dairy cow mothers running after the trucks, mothers were cleaning their new calf and they pull him or her away without a thought- hours after birthing them- they cry for days without each other- they pluck feathers from geese and skin from rabbits and lambs while they scream and screech for someone to help them- goats, camels and lambs (please I’ll be sick if anyone says they don’t raise those in the United States) we screaming for help trying to get away from a “blender” and gas chamber and electrocution- my God, everyone, this is happening somewhere in the world and it effects the “cosmos” and our consciousness as a society on whole- for people that eat fish- because that’s somehow “less harmful”- how good would it feel to suffocate for even one minute or 30 seconds? Would you to feel like you don’t have oxygen because you’re not meant to be out of water? Would you like to be frozen to death? when a fish flops- they are trying to breathe- where is the sanity of basically every human being on Earth?! There are seriously women that are concerned that they won’t get their shots or collagen, or whatever it is, not even thinking about, for one second that these animals have their skin ripped off of them while they are still living- so many thoughts went through my head- a mother a woman, a daughter, a friend, I wouldn’t do this to anyone, anything for any amount- I believe that people who believe it’s okay to “dominate”, in such a viscous way deserve whatever comes their way in the “conscious retaliation” of the animals harmed, laughing while they’re down, using them down to the bone for everything from entertainment to water filters with animal bone-char for the “show animals “ I felt awful ( I felt so sick seeing someone ride a bull after they electrocute them and twist their tails and someone surfing in a dolphin- something I knew about but wasn’t interested in seeing again, part of ignoring what they do, seeing they have such a brilliant display of intellect and empathy- what kind of person harms a dolphin after hearing them sing to each other?) I am ranting- I have become that person that knows something and can’t be quiet about it- it was Monsanto years ago- I tried so hard to go back and take that blue pill but it just doesn’t manage to happen- I cannot unlearn what I’ve learned in this evolution- the funny thing is I question myself like “should I enjoy another’s suffering?” That’s considered “normal”? I know even if it’s prevalent it’s not acceptable/ there are so many vast resources and ideas here that could fix this problem instantly- farmers are too mean and stuck in their ways to change their farms- I vote everyone gives ideas and gives to anyone that’s helping end these factory animal farms- not some of them/ abolish all of them/ each and every factory animal farm should close- they can received funding from the USDA and private donors to start plant-based farms- that’s as nicely as I can speak toward anyone that’s been knowing this and contributing to it- and I’m still upset with myself for not forcing myself to watch this stuff sooner- (God forgive me- animals forgive me)

Civets Abused for Kopi Lowak coffee-

I’m sure this is a known fact, it’s just a new one for me- I’m a coffee lover I drink coffee everyday, I struggle with the ins and outs of processing, fair trade, organic, water filters etc. I heard of the Kopi Lowak coffee before, and it sounds disgusting anyway, but take a look at the way these civets are held forced to eat raw coffee kernels (berries) in small cages suffering from mental health issues- this is just another way I was was so unknowing- “if people believe this is a delicacy, they don’t care or consider what it does to the animals that make it” I’m sickened by it.

Alternative therapies for addictive disorders- Has anyone heard of “N.E.T” or a documentary called “The Final Fix”?

Just like the title says, I’m looking for additional I formation or possible personal experiences from this experimental treatment that started in the late 70’s and didn’t catch on until around mid 2000’s… I was a substance abuse counselor and am continuing my evolution as a facilitator and eventually therapist- without the use of scientology materials or anything similar to what I’ve seen in some “alternative addictions treatments”, This documentary has a programmed device set to the back of the ear and within a few short hours they are relieved of withdrawal pains and the recovery rate after a few days of use with training is as close to something we would define as a “cure” than anything I’ve seen, and I don’t use the word “cure” lightly- the end to incessant consistent cravings that lead almost any sufferer of addiction back into the cycle- I haven’t seen the long-term after effects, but have seen that up to a year later, sometimes several years later, the subjects aren’t craving or seeking or craving any longer- Is this a treatment you’ve heard about. I’m researching the differences for long term abstinence, compared to other supposed “one time” drug treatments, like Ibugain or anything substance-based- the N.E.T is completely electronic with frequencies- let me know your thoughts-

Paranoid vegan

Has anyone felt like a “paranoid vegan”, before? Sometimes I try a plant-based food or something raw, without any processing, one ingredient and something about it tastes “off”, like an animal product has either touched it or was around it? Also, there’s the “paranoid vegan” I have become that tastes something that doesn’t contain animal products, “supposedly” I say- and it tastes so close to what it should be I either throw it away or feel a very strong sense of concern- it seems like I have to involve other people that aren’t as concerned as I am, and this is still fairly new to me so I’m having a lot of met curiosity and questions about everything- 4.5 years without meat, almost two years zero animal products/ every month or so I find something else I didn’t know was made with animal products- I downloaded a list from Happy Cow with the hidden food additives, and still find the best way is less ingredients- I just wonder if there are some other people that notice something similar to animal products or something so close to something normally processed or made that way, if it’s trusted or has it led more people to make their own food items? That’s a natural conclusion too.
