What is the translation implications of Rev 13:8

“And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭13‬:‭8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“and all the inhabitants of the earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb that was slaughtered.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭13‬:‭8‬ ‭NRSVUE‬‬

One reads like militant Calvinism.

One reads like temporal displacement.

Superiority versus projected inferiority, can we reasonably say they stem from the same place?

Superiority versus projected inferiority. Can we reasonably say they stem from the same place?

Example-

2 people clean dishes differently, there overall cleanliness is about the same.

The superiority mindset would say, i am better than you at dishes

The projected inferiority mindset says, you need to do better at cleaning dishes.

—-

Logically speaking, that someone could do better isn’t indicative of them doing poorly…. And therefore untestable… Logically speaking claiming to be better than someone at a thing is falsifiable/testable.

Are these both coming from a similar place, psychologically speaking?

Is there a push back response that covers both positions?

Ephesians 6:12

“Spiritual forces of evil in heavenly places “

So in digging into what i could on this verse and the ideas conveyed i am left wondering,

“How did evil get into the heavenly places?”

Well the heavenly places is just that. A reference to the realm of existence where only spiritual things exist, call it the ethereal if that helps.

And the spirit of part is definitely talking about the essence of a thing, same word used to say, spiritual gifts…

But is this verse trying to say that there is devil invading heaven? Or is it more that in the ethereal realm, there exists the essence of evil and that is what we are fighting?

Maybe I’ve kinda answered my own question a bit here, but if anyone has a take here that might offer a perspective I’m not considering, I’d be happy to read it.

Just thought of something else edit:

Does our proclivity to idolize evil things, bring that which is devil into the ethereal, whereas if we just abstained from evil, it would be a footnote in our day…like, him on our shoe, it’s only in us because we pick it up.

How are my tie-ins on a lesson for 10-yr olds? 2Cor 12:1-10

> Paul’s Vision & His Thorn
> I must go on boasting. Although there is nothing to be gained, I will go on to visions and revelations from the Lord. 2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know—God knows. 3 And I know that this man—whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, but God knows— 4 was caught up to paradise and heard inexpressible things, things that no one is permitted to tell. 5 I will boast about a man like that, but I will not boast about myself, except about my weaknesses.

What did Paul know about this guy’s vision? Was his intent in this letter to talk about this guy’s vision?

> 6 Even if I should choose to boast, I would not be a fool, because I would be speaking the truth. But I refrain, so no one will think more of me than is warranted by what I do or say, 7a or  because of these surpassingly great revelations.

“When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent. The tongue of the righteous is choice silver; the heart of the wicked is of little worth. The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of sense.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭10‬:‭19‬-‭21‬ ‭ESV‬‬

> 7b Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9a But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

“But when Jesus heard it he said, “This illness does not lead to death. It is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.” John‬ ‭11‬:‭4‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“And his disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him.” ‭‭John‬ ‭9‬:‭2‬-‭3‬ ‭ESV‬‬

> 9bTherefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

“Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.” Psalm 34:5

Radiant = Nahar which is typically translated as “flow” like stream, so an orderliness…right.

Ashamed = Haper which is typically translated as confounded.

If David is meaning to juxtapose these two ideas flow vs not confounded (al haper) would it not be a better understanding, considering the context, that the meaning here is more accurately describing the face of those who have confidence in God and those who lack it by not trusting God?

But i suppose a better question a preemptive question would be, is David trying to present a juxtaposition?

Another question, why is nahar translated as radiant if all the other uses are flow.

Is this idiomatic?

Thank you in advance.
