AITK for Hiring a Private Investigator to Look Into an Arranged Marriage Proposal?

Hello. As many people know, there have been a lot of recent cases involving spouses murdering their partners. It's honestly made me anxious.

Because of that, I hired a private investigator (I know there is no official licensing for a PI here but this is someone with an extensive portfolio) to look into an arranged marriage proposal I received. My friends think I'm being weird and overly suspicious.

I know some of you will suggest dating instead, but the truth is I don't pick up on red flags very easily. I feel like having someone do a proper background check gives me some peace of mind before making such a life-changing decision.
