Wedding videographer used recorder during guest interviews that corrupted during import process
We were married in November 2025. I hired a videographer and requested he do guest “interviews” where our guests could give us well wishes, etc. They account for a small but significant portion of our raw footage and unfortunately, we have now learned that the audio from the recorder was corrupted during the importing process.
The attached emails speak for themselves. We cannot hear the interviews of our guests over the music, as the recorder corrupted during import and there is no audio from the recorder. My question is what are the next steps I should be taking ? Slide 4 is my email to the videographer. Am I asking the right questions?
I really want to fix this, this is super upsetting, I wanted to listen to my parents and grandma’s messages for years to come and show my children.
What do you think of my videographer’s response?
Do you recommend any software or tools? I downloaded DaVinci Resolve but it’s super intimidating and it’s going to take me forever to learn how to use. I might upgrade to Studio for the vocal isolation feature and see if that’s easier.
Do you have any recommendations as to companies that can help me with drowning out the background music and isolating the guest’s voices? I’m open to hiring someone to help me as long as they are credible and experienced.
Finally, is the audio from the recorder gone forever? I feel like the videographer is giving me mixed messages with saying he tried to recover it with no luck but then saying he would go back and try to recover it.
I don’t really care about the money,I just want this fixed. Please go easy on me as this situation is extremely upsetting to me. Thank you for your time and input.
