Miyeokguk. It's not my birthday, I just wanted it.

I just like this soup. It’s light, filling, and the calorie count is almost nothing for how satisfying it is. That’s most of why I make it.

The one morning habit Andrew Huberman emphasizes more than anything else

Stanford neuroscientist Andrew Huberman has one morning habit he emphasizes more than almost anything else: get outside and get sunlight in your eyes shortly after waking.

Specifically:

- Within 30–60 minutes of waking

- 5–10 minutes on a clear day

- 10–20 minutes if it’s cloudy

- 20–30 minutes if it’s heavily overcast

A short walk around the block is usually enough.

Why does this matter? Your body’s internal clock (circadian rhythm) is primarily set by when light first hits your eyes. Morning sunlight starts a timer that makes it easier to feel sleepy at the right time later that night. If you wake up early but stay indoors, your clock doesn’t get the signal, and you often end up lying in bed wide awake at night.

One common mistake: thinking that sitting by a window counts. It doesn’t. Glass cuts the light intensity dramatically. Indoor light or light through a window is typically around 1,000 lux. Outside on a cloudy day you’re getting ~10,000 lux, and on a sunny day it can reach 100,000 lux. That’s a 10–100x difference.

If you want more consistent energy and better sleep, this is one of the highest-leverage things you can do.
