Towing with an Escalade

I've been shopping higher end Suburbans when I noticed Escalade ESVs are roughly the same price on the used market (looking at '16-'20s). And they sure do look cushy!!

How is towing with the Caddys? I do notice it doesn't have a trailer brake controller, seems easy enough to add one? Anything else I should look out for?

I'll be towing an open race car trailer, about 4k lbs. Looking for a Burbie / ESV for the space for all the associated race car clobber I carry around.

How do you keep your cables managed / handy / etc? C300x

I'm looking for some solution to keep the power cord and usb cables attached to my C300x.

Since I got my c300X I've been carrying it more than I expected, but I'm always misplacing the power cable. I've wrapped one usb-c cable around the strap as a permanent fixture, but if I could use space for one or two more, plus a 12v cable if possible. Let me know what you've got!

Harbor Freight 70cc oil full of glitter. What did I do wrong?

Very open ended question I know. I have a 70cc HF gas powered 1" water pump I use for fire suppression. I run it every few months and change the oil once a year. I got it running this week when a fire broke out and noticed the power seemed low.

I changed the oil since it was out of storage and it was just full of glitter. It's the engines 2nd oil change. I didn't notice any glitter the first time. Using penzoil 10w30 conventional.

Is there some maintenance I'm forgetting on these? The engine has probably 5 hours on it, I don't know why it just ate itself like this.

Edit: it's two years old, it's not returnable

Anyone know about "Balcony solar" regulations here?

If you're not familiar, "balcony solar", also known as plug in solar, are small scale solar systems that can be plugged directly into a 110v outlet via a microinverter. They're generally 200-800w of solar power that can be used to offset usage at home. The microinverter prevents any backfeeding into the grid, so they are generally safe to use even without input from the utility company.

That being said there are still rules and regulations, and I don't want to blow my neighborhood up. Has anyone installed a system, or know of anyone that's familiar with the regulations on these? Any local vendors for the parts that you'd recommend?

My thought is installing 4-800w of solar on my back balcony, with a power station between the solar and the grid, would offset some of my bill and I'd also have juice to run my fridge and wi-fi in an outage.

My FIL is undergoing cancer treatment and I promised him a spot on the PT boat that they drive out on the lake when he recovered, but apparently they dry docked it a few years ago. I feel awful. Any chance this is coming back?

A few weeks ago someone cut a cable and my power went out for two days, although oddly it was on for several hours overnight. I got a chance to test out my system, and it worked pretty damn well!

I have a Solix C1000 Gen 2, and really my only plan was to power the fridge with some that thing and some solar panels. I started the day at 63% charge, and the panels got me charging at about 300w. It takes some babysitting to get the panels to do their max charge all the time, but the good news is the system will clearly run the fridge indefinitely, unless we have a few days of bad weather (unlikely in Southern California). I had enough juice left over to run my kettle, too! Pro tip: put a splitter on the end of the extension cord, so you have power for multiple devices in the kitchen. Much easier than carrying the kettle outside.

I kept the setup outside and ran a long extension cord to the fridge in the kitchen. I realized I can't go without wi-fi though, so I've since added a C300x just to have a little buffer, something portable to charge things like laptops, and to run my router & modem. I'll have to carry it to the solar to charge as the cable drop is nowhere near where I can charge. Plus I get the 300x to carry around on camping / racing weekends, which will be pretty useful.

If things get REALLY bad I have my Everfrost fridge as well. It usually lives in my truck, but with these panels even on cloudy days I'm sure I can keep it running indefinitely.
