advice for helping my partner with PDD?
apologies if this isn’t a good thread for this - i’m getting a bit desperate. my partner has persistent depression, and has for many years even before we met. we live together and have been dating 4 years. their main complaint is dissociation/derealization. they don’t recognize themselves in the mirror, the world around them doesn’t feel real, etc. and this will sometimes go on for weeks at a time until it finally breaks and they have light in their eyes for a couple days. the rest of the time, it’s like nothing and no one exists, not even me. no idea what triggers it - they barely tell me anything. they’ve been on wellbutrin for a couple of years and they say it helps a lot, but it hasn’t helped in terms of their ability to engage emotionally. it feels kind of selfish being worried about myself, but i’m really not. they don’t seem to experience happiness or pleasure much at all, and that’s not a sustainable way to life. i feel them slipping further away and i don’t know what else i can do. i check in with them every day and ask how they are - they always say they’re fine. it feels like most days i’m the one that initiates conversation and they would be fine not engaging at all. i’ll usually get a kiss or a back rub in bed but sometimes not even that. their job is stressful and they have basically no work-life balance which is a big contributor, but there’s no telling how long they’re gonna be at this job and i’m tired of crossing my fingers and hoping things will magically improve. any advice would be extremely appreciated. thanks for reading.
HOW are you guys finishing these?
i just hit level 49 and i have yet to beat one of these mini games. i get the season passes thinking that should help but i’ve still never finished one. what am i doing wrong?
does anyone else feel like they’re not good at anything?
genuinely this post is not to dog on myself, but truly there is nothing i’m good at, and i think it has to be AuDHD related, at least in part, so im wondering if anyone else feels the same.
i grew up “gifted” at school and i’ve been told my whole life until now that im “smart,” but truly that means nothing in practice. everything i try, im bad at, and because im bad at it, im not motivated to keep doing it.
im wondering if anyone feels this way / has any tips or tricks to deal with it. i’mincluding a ss of a text thread i had with my boyfriend bc im not retyping all that shit lol.
EDIT: hi everyone, thank you for the kind words! i made this post quickly on my break at work, and upon reflection i have a better idea of where this frustration is coming from. by “not good at anything” i don’t mean i’m worthless - there are things i’m good at, and there are things i find meaning/fulfillment in to a degree, but the problem is that everything feels hard. i’m coming from a place of burn out, but my worry is that things won’t ever really feel easier, even if they get better (e.g. i have a better paying job, more free time, etc.)
everything involved in being a human adult is so difficult. i struggle with eating just because it feels like work - i know if i enjoyed cooking i could improve my eating habits, but learning how to cook is so much work. i have terrible navigation skills and no sense of direction. i’ve lived in nashville for 3 years and can’t get anywhere without maps. getting out of bed in the morning is difficult. getting exercise is difficult. going out in public is difficult. making/keeping friends has been pretty impossible. i could go on and on but i’m sure you guys get it.
taking naps is my primarily coping mechanism when things get too overwhelming, which is pretty much every day - but taking naps means i get less sleep at night, which makes it harder to wake up the next day. i’m just frustrated and i feel like nothing is working for me.
