How hard is it to be an Accountant in the United States or internationally?

How was it for you? Putting time to study day-by-day is obviously a factor that plays a part into aspiring to pass the CPA Exam & be qualified to work at a firm as an accountant. But if you were to ask yourself how difficult was it to reach that goal, either in the U.S. or at an international firm, how would you describe the difficulty & other factors that came along?
