Kitchener Rangers just won the OHL championship for the first time since 2008
The Rangers swept Barrie 4-0 in the finals to win the J. Ross Robertson Cup . Christian Humphreys tipped in the game-winner in the third period of Game 4 and Sam O'Reilly (who won playoff MVP) added an empty netter to seal the 4-2 win . The Rangers finished the postseason with a 16-2 record which is absolutely dominant. Their last title was 2008-18 years ago to the day actually .
O'Reilly had 28 points (17 goals, 11 assists) in 18 playoff games . That's why he got the Wayne Gretzky 99 Award. Also, O'Reilly and blueliner Jared Woolley became just the second and third players in 1980 to win three straight OHL championships . That's wild. Kitchener now heads to the Memorial Cup in Kelowna starting May 22 . Does anyone think they can win the whole thing?
