Considering a Line6 HX effects

Hi, i have been a line6 user for as log i can remember. I've had the DL4 for a decade, then swapped to the M5 that i now have for over a decade as well. I'm always very impressed by the delays and reverbs.

Now i'm considering buying a HX effects to declutter my pedalboard. I still have the old pedaltrain pro that is filled with pedals. Some will be on my board forever though, but i feel that the HX effects can replace most of my loose delay and reverb pedals.

I'm also a real nut for pitch shifters and i own a boss ps-5, boss ps-3 and an EHX Hog that i actually just use as an oversized POG basically.

My real question is how does it handle pitch shifting like adding fifths, octave up and down + clean. Does it handle weird chords? I have tested the pitch shifter on the M5 once and was very disappointed in how bad it tracked, i don't mind minor glitches because that gives it character, thats what makes the digitech whammy awesome. Maybe some die hard users can give me some intell from their experience....

Thanks.

Hog footcontroller rehousing.

Rehoused my hog 1 footcontroller. Saved up to 60% of pedalboard space with this. Other than missing a washer, I’m very satisfied.

Help, squier or fender

Okay. I’ve been struggling with a new purchase. I’ve been looking for a 72 thinline telecaster. Since I live in Europe, fenders are ridiculously expensive overal. I came across a Japanese fender for 800 euros, a new squier costs 400 euros. Since I will replace the pickups with actual wide range humbuckers, there is no added value there.

I find it really hard to decide if a new squier might be a better deal than a used and thirty year old fender.

On a side note I bought a vm jaguar last year (second hand) and modded bridge, pickups etc. And I pick it up as easily as my fender telecaster (Japan).

What are your thoughts on this matter?

My Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar

I have this jaguar for a while now actually but never posted it because it was stock and it needed some work. It’s obviously a used guitar so has a lot of dings and stuff, but I don’t care.

The mods that I added:
* Bensonite jaguar/jazzmaster bridge. In my opinion this is the best aftermarket bridge you can get. Also the owner is awesome! I asked if he could make me a custom saddle because I droptune to C, and was happy to help me out.
* one degree neck shim to make sure I get enough break angle.
* custom wound jaguar pickups, vintage specs, with alnico 5 magnets. Designed by a local Dutch pickup builder (FWL pickups). These make the guitar sound awesome.
* as posted before I filed the knife edge of the vibrato increasing the tuning stability enormously.
* generic white pickguard, didn’t like the tortoise pickguard it came with.

I’m really surprised by this guitar overal, and I pick it up as often as my fender Tele. Might start looking at more offsets.

Fix your noisy squier jazzmaster/jaguar vibrato

I have been scouring the internet for fixes for my squier vm jaguar vibrato, because I was sure the clicking and the noise was fixable. Unfortunately there wasn’t all that much about this issue on reddit, squiertalk etc. But a few days back I came across this article from Bensonite (the maker of my jaguar bridge).

https://www.bensoniteproducts.com/blahblahblah/fix-for-my-new-jazzmaster-tremolo?srsltid=AfmBOooce\_2U5eNLkaImT2wG9o0OR9jW3ZFYcaMBAR\_aHmnYHY1kxd53#/

It appears that the mass productiemodellen these bridges just overlook the main reason these bridges actually work, and that is a knife edge, instead these squires have flat fulcrumplates, and that is the main issue.
This morning I took my jaguar apart, filed the fulcrum plat down as specified, polished it a bit. Also applied some other fixes to the trem arm (squeezing the collet a bit) and ran some cloth through the spring of the vibrato, and this vibrato is actually great now! No more clicking, no more unwanted resonance!

Just wanted to share this knowledge with other diy-ers who think an upgrade of € 160,- is actually overkill.

Well, i have been looking for ways to upgrade my VM Jaguar, and ordering a staytrem collet and wait 25 weeks is a no go for me, also the one on reverb is twice the price, supply and demand i guess. Do you guys think this is a more decent replament or can this only make things worse?
