Max RPM on a 5.3 with .600 lift springs

Purely hypothetical but it’s always fun to hash it out. I’m currently building an LH6. I’ll be running an RHP Low Buck Truck cam with PAC Racing .600” beehive springs and a trunion upgrade I plan to limit it to 6500 for longevity and the power starts to fall off after about 6200ish based off the graphs I’ve seen…..but, in theory what’s the max I could safely push this thing to in the revs?

Building a gen iv aluminum block 5.3 with a RHP Low Buck Truck Cam. Can I run LS7 valve springs?

I came across a hell of a deal on some take off LS7 valve springs. I need to upgrade my springs to a 600 lift spring for my cam and I want to know if I can run these springs. I’m running the factory 799 heads.

GM Genuine Pistons and Piston Bushings

I need to replace a piston for my LH6 rebuild. Does anyone know if the GM Genuine Pistons from RockAuto come with the bushings already installed or do I need to order some bushings as well?

Would you plasti gauge stock replacement bearings on a rebuild?

I’m doing a rebuild of an LH6 using stock bearings and I’m wondering should I plasti gauge the bearings? I’m using new stock torque to yield bolts and I’m assuming I’ll have to replace the bolts again if I plasti gauge the bearings.

LH6 Cam bearing width

I’m rebuilding a LH6 out of an 08 5.3. I can get bearings that are .765” wide or .775” wide. Which one should I get?

92 Firebird with a tbi 305. Factory spec says a .035 spark plug gap but I didn’t pay attention and put the new plugs at .045. Should I take them out and regap to .035?

If it wasn’t such a pain in the ass I’d just do it but if I can get away with a .045 gap then I’m gonna send it. Suggestions?

Questions for Ohio cops who have switched from OPERS to Ohio Police & Fire Retirement System

I’ve got just shy of 9 years in OPERS in a civilian position. I have an opportunity to go to the academy and have it paid for by a local agency but they pay into Ohio Police & Fire. If you have made the move from OPERS to Ohio Police & Fire how was the process? Did you lose some money in the change? Do you regret the move strictly from a retirement standpoint?

Dad here seeking advice from you wonderful mothers on things I can do to make my wife feel less invisible.

I got to work tonight and shortly after I got this text from my wife.

I know you're a good dad, and this isn't about saying you don't help with the girls. You absolutely do.

What I'm struggling with is that so much of what I do is invisible. I feel like I'm carrying the mental load and the behind-the-scenes responsibilities that nobody sees.

You work nights, so most of the time you get 7+ hours of uninterrupted sleep. When I'm not at work, I'm usually not resting. I'm making sure the house runs, the girls have what they need, figuring out who is watching the girls, appointments are scheduled, birthdays, school things are done, clothes are bought, groceries are stocked, and all the little details are handled.

By the time I finish everything that needs to be done, I don't have much energy left to just sit on the floor and play or be the fun parent. Then it feels like the girls naturally gravitate toward you because you get more opportunities to simply enjoy time with them.

I'm not upset with you or blaming you. I'm just exhausted. Sometimes I feel like nobody sees all the work I'm doing behind the scenes, and it's starting to wear me down. I want to be able to enjoy the girls too instead of always feeling responsible for everything.

I don't need a Facebook appreciation post or a public shoutout. I don't need people to tell me what a great mom I am.

What I need is for you to start paying attention to what needs done and take the initiative and use your off time to be more productive.

I told her I see her and I see everything she does. I 100% acknowledge I need to do more. I’m not going to use my night shift job as an excuse because plenty of people work nights and are still good partners.

I help keep the house clean but her standards are higher than mine so I need to up my game in that aspect, I help with the laundry, I think the main things that I need to step up on are the things she mentioned like school events, appointments, planning birthdays. What do your partners do that help you feel seen and feel like they are carrying a fair share of the workload at home and with the kids? Are there any apps you suggest for scheduling or making grocery lists where we can both enter items that we need at the store?

Thank you in advance for any replies and suggestions!

To say I’m proud is an understatement. This girl has only been fishing two years and already has caught a bigger fish than I ever have.

How much do you trust tides4fishing?

I read about the website on another post in the subreddit and it says for my area there will be high activity in from about 11 o’clock until about 1 o’clock in the afternoon because of solunar activity. Would I be better to fish at dawn or during that period? Hell I might just do both.

All I seem to catch are whiting. What can I do to try and get keeper pompano?

I’m fishing in the Tampa bay area and using shrimp with sand flea fish bites using a pompano rig on both poles but all I seem to catch are whiting. The beach is really gradual with a bar about 150 ft off shore. The waves are really gentle so it’s hard to tell from shore if I’m in the trough or behind the bar. Any tips?

Would you use a shock lead on 50lb braid?

I’ll be going surf fishing for my second time next week and I’m up in the air. As far as I know, the area I’ll be fishing is almost entirely sand with little to no rocks but obviously I can’t know for sure.

Headed to the Tampa Bay Area in a few weeks and plan to do some fishing. For those that have fished that area, is Fort Desoto State Park usually packed?

I’ve got no problem sharing the beach with anglers and non anglers alike but obviously the less people the better.

My daughter came home from school and told my wife and I about an incident that had just occurred on the bus. Her and her friend brought baby dolls with them to school(they’re 7.) and an older boy was picking on them. He said my daughter’s doll was ugly and she said “well, your attitude is ugly.” And went back to playing. To say I was tickled is an understatement. She was confident, and had a comeback that even I was envious of.
