Finally had enough and shaved it all off

42F. Over the years I have had every hairstyle in the world. Long, short, various colours, but I never find one that I can stick with. I have very fine, very dense hair with a bit of an unruly wave that I can rarely tame because my hair is so heavy it gets weighed down. I work in a kitchen (I own two cafes so I work 5-7 days per week) so my hair is always tied back. Most recently I had an undercut that I *loved*, when it was styled it was light enough to sit nicely and looked super cool and edgy, but in the 6 months I had it I must have had it styled about 5 times. The rest of the time it was pinned up for work. In the excessive heat last week my kitchen reached 50C and I'd just had enough so I decided to cut it all off and start again (my poor long suffering hairdresser had a wonderful time making me look ridiculous during the process 🤣)

I actually quite like the buzz cut, but my husband hates it 🤣 I do have some weird lines and partings that are presumably caused by having my hair tied back constantly, I'm getting a touch up in a few weeks to see if we can straighten them out. Long term I want to try and figure out what might suit me so I have something to aim for, anyone have any thoughts??

Mystery sprout!! 🌱

MONTHS ago while repotting some of my plants I found some seedy/cormy looking things in the soil, so threw them into fresh compost and forgot about them. Today I noticed something has sprouted!!! ... Except it's been so long I have absolutely no idea what it is 😅 Probably some kind of alocasia, but looks like I'll have to wait and see!

I know it's tagged ID but I don't actually expect anyone to ID it from this - if anyone can I'll be seriously impressed!! 🤣

Just had a Christina and haven't told my husband!

Been wanting a Christina for a while and finally had it done today, but I haven't told my husband, I'm just going to wait until he notices (it might take a minute, been together a long time, 2 kids, 2 businesses, don't judge 😂). I haven't got anyone else to tell so I'm telling you guys because it's so freaking cute and he's going to lose his mind!!

UPDATE: Guys he noticed 😅 I was hoping I'd have a couple more days at least but I think he has a 6th sense. It started with a lot of confusion - what's that, when did you do that, I didn't know you went to the piercer, did it hurt??.... followed immediately by how much he loves it and how good it looks 💕 He's a bit sad that it he can't get the full benefits immediately while it heals but he's very much enjoying the view in the meantime and hasn't left me alone all morning 🥰

Thanks to everyone who took the time to comment and say kind and helpful things. Except the person who suggested he might think I was cheating on him, you can get in the bin, and to those trying to slide into my DMs looking for pictures - it's not happening and you will get reported. For those interested I'm adding a little list below of info from my experience and things others have said in case it's useful. Happy piercing! X

  • Obviously I was super excited to show my husband but I did this for me first and foremost!! Don't be stabbing holes in yourself for other people unless you want it!! The appreciation of a partner is just a nice little cherry on top!

  • a Christina is different from a VCH in that it goes through the fleshy bit of the pubic mound. It's not designed for increased pleasure, it may do that for some but mostly it's just a bit of bling! I chose it because I don't have the anatomy for a VCH and also I'd be too scared 😅 plus I just love the look of a Christina and it's definitely given me a little confidence boost!

  • Yes it hurts. I have 16 piercings and this was by far the most painful, but only for a minute, once the jewellery is in its totally fine. No swelling, no catching or throbbing, just mildly pinchy. Even rode my motorbike in the afternoon with no issues! I've had no bleeding or irritation, you wouldn't even know it was a fresh piercing, but as always keep it clean and dry and litha ideally for at least 6 weeks! Full healing takes anywhere up to a year.

  • The experience wasn't at all awkward or embarrassing for me, I've had multiple piercings from my piercer and trust him professionally and personally. It was very straightforward and I felt safe at all times, but do your research first. Make sure you've met them beforehand, don't find yourself in a locked room half naked with a random person with a needle, take a chaperone if you need to. Any good piercer will be happy to accommodate you to make you comfortable.

  • I did not shave, I made sure I was freshly showered for hygiene and courtesy and I trimmed for ease of access and visibility but there is no need to be fully shaven unless that's your thing. Piercers have seen it all before and good piercers are some of the most body positive people in the world, if someone makes you feel wrong about your body or body hair get up and leave.

  • As others in the comments have experienced, a Christina is technically a surface piercing so is at higher risk of rejection or migration. It's not something that worries me too much, if it has to come out then I'll deal with it when it happens, but if that's something you're concerned about then you should bear that in mind and always keep an eye on surface piercings so they don't end up catching and causing damage.

  • Anatomy wise, you need to be able to pinch a good amount of skin and preferably have a "divot" for the lower gem to sit in. If you're not sure just ask, you might find that something else will work for you. As my guy says, anything can be pierced if you're brave enough, you might create a new piercing and get it named after you! 💕 X
