I... I didn't know this was an option...

Not sure why they didn't just put English on it because the entire chapter was in English. I thought it was bcs one of the characters uses it but no there's no tags and there's only one short chapter. Interesting choice I might say.

I hate being told I "look like a Korean/Japanese" (when I'm not) as a compliment

Being in a SEA country where fair skinned/oriental looking people are considered prettier than how we usually look like makes me not finding those "you look so Japanese🥰" comments flattering or even consider them as a compliment.

While ppl my age would be sensitive enough to not mention anyone's ethnicity when complimenting someone, these sort of comments always came from older relatives.

Yes, I like East Asian media, I like their music and anime, and I love how pretty they are as well as their fashion styles (hence why I look usually look them up as reference), but it's getting tiring whenever I go to a family function and they always say that. I know they meant it as a compliment but I really don't. They made me sound like I'm trying to be them but really? Loving Japanese style ≠ wanting to be Japanese, seriously. It feels like they devalue how SE Asian people actually look like, esp when they're any darker than my shade (and I'm not even THAT pale)

A husband of my cousin (50M) told me more than twice that he "loves it whenever I'm (at the family gathering) because I look so Japanese" and I honestly dk what to do with it. I was kinda weirded out whenever he said it like it was supposed to be a compliment. I dont even know if I wanna say thanks or smth.

So yeah, TLDR: just tell someone they're pretty/beautiful or that they look like someone attractive if you wanna compliment them. Using ethnicity as a compliment is just... weird.

Edit : everyone's assuming i'm filipino i understand lol, i am Indonesian, we are seablings

Edit 2 : i'm sorry to the racist and inaccurate assumptions a lot of you experienced, but some of you really need to reread the first 4 words. i do not live where racial diversity is a major thing. they're not assuming my ethnicity, they use it as a "compliment" as if looking a certain ethnicity is a better option for someone to look like. it's just a weird expectation to have from a tropical country.

Anyone knows a word in any language that means 'the color of leaves under sunlight"?

ik some of you would say "komorebi" but i think that word refers more to the light rather than the color.

Any ideas?

Employer hasn't contacted for almost a month now (part-time). I need the cash but not sure about my place here.

Hi, I'm currently part-timing at a cafe. I joined around May-June with about 2-3 shifts per week. Since late June I haven't gotten any calls/WA yet (they usually contact me the day before/the morning of whenever they need someone to cover). I asked if they have any shift available for me for the week that late June because I had an upcoming event for the weekend, and they said no. I waited but they haven't contacted again since.

I have my only paycheck in June without official employment (no contract signing or whatever. I'm not in the group chat either). I don't know if this a typical workplace thing since this is my first time getting an actual job. And I honestly don't know where the issue lays here. Is it on them because they kinda ghosted me for a month or is it on me for not asking? I also put up boundaries to not call 6 hours before shift (4 pm), could that also be the cause?

I talked to my friend about this and she said to WA them again on/after payday this month (the 25th) but I'm still not sure. I wanna seek other jobs but I'm still unsure because of this. Any advice on what should I do?

Should I ditch my wig for my real hair + ponytail? (OG CV Claire Redfield cosplay)

I'm going to cosplay OG CV Claire this weekend (June 27) and I'm thinking of ditching my wig that I made (pic 2-3) to my real hair (pic 5-6) with a fake ponytail (because I have a wolf cut and it's getting kinda long). Please excuse the unfinished wig because it is, I was kinda testing them last weekend before wearing them soon.

Several reasons I'm ditching them :

1. It's too ginger. Claire does have red hair but she's borderline brunette (maybe reddish brunette?). If pic 2-3 looks reddish brown it's because of the editing. The original color under daylight's in pic 4.

2. Ponytail too heavy. I followed a tiktok tutorial on making a ponytail wig without gluing them and the hair was too long (pic 2-3) so it weighed down the wig, shagging the shape, and made my Claire have a receeding hairline. Also the wig cap's visible (pic 4). I will be at the con all day so I don't think I wanna overstimulate myself with the length and the possible migraines.

3. Time. I still have uni and work tomorrow (it's Wednesday night rn) so the only day I can fix the ponytail and bangs was Friday night, because I have to finish her "Let me live" decal on the back.

If I were to ditch them, then I'm buying a box dye and the fake ponytail tomorrow. If I were not, I'd probably pull a Friday night all nighter to fix the wig and the bangs.

Should I ditch the wig or is it fixable?

edit: minor spelling
