the two biggest self-promoters on r/punk are doing a show together

Gottlieb, an anarcho-punk band from Los Angeles that frequents this sub a lot, is going on tour! Gottlieb found Cat Crash via my postings on this sub and reached out to me via email to set up a show together in NYC. I run an indie booking collective called BubbleTeaGrunge and I used my skills to book us a show that is all ages and cheap! So bring the whole family around for a show that goes from a pop punk opener, Fat Heaven (who also frequents this sub!!), a riot grrrl sandwich, and a melodic hardcore closer! This is a matinee show that starts at 1 PM. Grab tickets soon, because the venue is only 60 cap!

go see lost grrrl found!!

last night i finally saw the play/musical lost grrrl found, "the only play with a moshpit." i really enjoyed it! the songs are catchy and the plot has so much drama. as someone who actually has gone on tour i can confirm tours can really be that dramatic. i had a really good time and if you're in a place where you can go see this musical i recommend it!

i appreciate how the characters were realistically flawed, i feel like sometimes with feminism/riot grrrl there's an expectation for femmes to somehow be better/morally superior to their masculine counterparts when the truth is we are all flawed, we should just be regarded with the same amount of respect and forgiveness as everyone else.

my band hosted a riot grrrl x folk punk nite at a local restaurant

hi! i'm the frontperson of a riot grrrl band called Cat Crash and i also run an indie booking collective called BubbleTeaGrunge!

together with my girlfriend Marcie we booked a show at Fuse Bistro in Lowell, Massachusetts on April 12th. this was a mixed folk punk x riot grrrl bill. Sonic Ground PR did the sound, our friends ran doors, and @moscowitz_photography took photos.

this show was totally DIY and had two folk punk artists and two riot grrrl bands. Marcie! from Massachusetts opened the show and SB from Providence RI played second. they were both incredibly good folk punkers with songs dealing with being queer and mental health.

ILLICIFY from CT/MA were the third band and they rocked the house down. we've played with them many times before and they're awesome every time, with "riot goth" style.

finally, Cat Crash played last and we had the entire restaurant moshing. we played a standard CC set to what we'd been playing for the rest of the tour, except after our last song, we played one more-- Skaphrodite (Aphrodite Has a Plan but Ska) with Marcie joining on the horns.

our drummer Noelle is from MA and so is my girlfriend so we had lots of friends come out to this show. this was Noelle's personal favorite show of ours we're done.

the lineup was entirely queer/femme/trans and we love creating a community for people like us and anyone who feels different :)

Loud Women Fest returns to NYC on May 16th

After the magic of last year, LOUD WOMEN Fest NYC returns to Brooklyn on 16 May at Main Drag — bringing feminist punk rock solidarity back across the ocean.

Because honestly… the USA has rarely needed feminist punk, community and solidarity more than right now.

LOUD WOMEN Fest NYC is a transatlantic celebration of DIY punk, riot grrrl energy, queer joy and feminist resistance. From London to New York, Cardiff to DC, Baltimore to LA, Brooklyn to everywhere — this is about community, connection and making some serious noise together.
Expect loud bands, radical kindness, chaotic joy, protest energy and generations of feminist punk on the same bill.

My band, Cat Crash is playing Loud Women Fest in NYC this year!! Hope to see many witches there, this has TWELVE feminist punk bands playing this all ages show, 2-11 PM.

Lineup:

Bad Static (NYC)

Bitter Tits (MD)

Burly Girlies (VT)

Cat Crash (NYC)

I, Doris (UK)

Jack Powers (NJ)

jenny alien (NYC)

SHAGGO (NYC)

hey y'all. we got added to a show with some artists we've never played with before and they posted the flyer for it last month. i thought nothing of it and posted the flyer onto a different social media site and got multiple comments saying "is this ai?" "this is ai" "this looks like ai." i took the post down, because after their comments, i can kind of see it. the flyer has pretty intricate artwork and i was never told who drew the flyer. this is mildly embarrassing for me as an artist myself and a band that literally says "FUCK AI" at every show. i took a look through the bands' other flyers and they also look mildly AI. i cannot be definitively sure though. i asked the band who made the flyer and they gave a pretty nonspecific answer but said a human made it.

what do i do about this? would it be a huge overreaction to drop the show entirely?

hi! i'm in the band Cat Crash and our band is majority Asian! (except for our drummer). i don't see a lot of Asian-Americans in the punk scene, especially Chinese-Americans, so in the interest of changing that i organized an all-ages matinee show on May 2nd at Purgatory in NYC with all-Asian artists and vendors. this will also be our single release show for a song Cat Crash and briar patch are releasing together-- we're both Asian and transgender.

this show is a collaboration between BubbleTeaGrunge and Fruit Punk Music, both indie collectives run by queer Asian femmes!

lineup:

Cat Crash + briar patch

lady lychee

first president of japan

TIFFY

2/14

+ Raisara (DJ)
