Can I travel seated from Zürich to Feldkirch, then switch to a couchette on the same Nightjet/EuroNight?
Hi everyone,
I am planning to take the Nightjet/EuroNight from Zürich HB to Wien Hbf on 2 August 2026. The train leaves Zürich HB at 20:32 and stops in Feldkirch at 22:34.
My idea would be: Travel from Zürich HB to Feldkirch in a seated coach. From Feldkirch to Vienna, switch to a couchette compartment on the same train.
The reason is that I will have a pass valid for Switzerland this summer: the Pass Jeune Grand Est Grenzenlos, which should cover or reduce the Swiss part, but my Klimaticket Austria only gives me the relevant discount from Feldkirch to Vienna. So my question is: Is it allowed to book/use the seated part from Zürich to Feldkirch, and then have a separate couchette reservation/ticket from Feldkirch to Vienna on the same train?
Also, practically speaking: Does the AG applies on Zürich to Feldkirch? And more importantly, can I just move from the seated coach to the couchette coach at Feldkirch, or do I need to get off and re-board? Has anyone done this before with Nightjet/EuroNight?
Thanks in advance!
Best,
Cédric
Edit:
On the french website (I shared the link in german without checking that it was complete), it is written that now the Swiss General Abonnement is included:
>L’été 2026 s’annonce extraordinaire avec le Pass Jeune Grand Est Grenzenlos ! Pour seulement 29 € par mois, les jeunes de -28 ans peuvent voyager en illimité à bord des trains et cars régionaux dans tout le Grand Est, en Allemagne voisine… et désormais en Suisse !
>selon le périmètre de validité de l’abonnement général suisse.
