Dinner delivered in this box … husband says it’s ink, I’m not so sure.

😬

Edited to add: This is a well established pizza chain in multiple states / corporate boxes and logos. This is from a location in NJ. (Most local chains don’t have gluten free pies, if I could order local I would 😔 trust me, I miss those slices like hell)

Edit 2: husband works in true crime docs and says it’d be brown. I worked in a pizza parlor folding boxes and have cut myself many times, I remember it looking like this once.

Final edit: Solved! Hydrogen peroxide test confirmed it’s ink. Trusted hubby’s hunch and had already eaten the pizza. (he was consulted prior to posting and we’ve been laughing at the comments all night. thank you for the entertainment, reddit!)

1 Landlord owes $2.6M in back taxes, but residents are being asked to pay more?

To add insult to injury, the properties are for the illegally-closed Christ Hospital campus. The landlord is also currently suing the DoH and JC to keep it illegally closed.

Just confirmed all numbers on the city's website *today*. Some of the bills are 2+ years overdue.

Why aren't we looking to collect what's already owed as part of solving this budget crisis?? https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1M06p_Oxv3tXVMy-vN2A3Vaocf2DJySK-Qd0XhLkUYTI/edit?gid=1492049538#gid=1492049538

A Cuckoo Clock Helped My Time Blindness

Getting it didn’t solve my time blindness by any means, but my cuckoo clock has been a HUGE help in keeping track of the day when I’m at home.

It needs to be rewound every 24 hours, and that little bird chirping every 30 minutes is a constant little background reminder to keep the day moving.

Also think it’s cool AF these things don’t need a power source - just gravity.

10/10, would recommend. (Huge love to my husband for this Christmas gift 2 years ago, it’s a game changer!)

why did it take 7 years for me to learn about this GEM?!

I’m now obsessed with the Apple Tree House. If you haven’t been to the museum of JC history, you need to visit.

At the least, check out holographic Thomas Jefferson while he’s in town.

Love letter to my neighbors

I know our city is facing some fcking insane challenges right now, but I want to send a little love letter out to this community.

Between last week’s City Council meeting and last night’s Town Hall with Mayor Solomon, our neighbors have proven beyond a doubt why this city is worth the fight.

The comments and ideas shared were so, so well researched, so passionate, so well articulated. The anger voiced was justified and well directed. But most notable through it all was the respect.

Everyone urged respect for each other, respect for this process, and respect for ourselves, whether they realized it or not.

Thank you, thank you. This community is brilliant and worth fighting for, every damn day.

Who remembers the “Greasy Kid Stuff” radio show?

My dad, sisters, and I would listen to it every Saturday morning back in the 90s and I remember cracking up at all the songs, but cannot remember any of the individual song titles. Would love to find some of them online / see if anyone else remembers loving this radio show as much as my family did!

tmw the police expect 200 people and get 20

Yesterday was my first time helping to call a press conference and rally, and we had 24 hours to do it.

I’m volunteering as the new comms director for the Save Our Hospital Coalition, and when I got to the Brennan Courthouse for our last minute rally, there were ~ 6 JCPD cruisers (lights on) waiting for us.

I was first there to set up (and by “set up”, I mean “find a spot on the sidewalk with some shade”) and surprised by the large presence.

NGL, it was a little nerve wracking to walk up to that many uniformed officers on my own and shout “I’m guessing you guys are here for me? I’m ‘Your Neighbor Caitlin’ from the Save Our Hospital coalition.”

The lead officer at the scene walked over and seemed genuinely surprised - they’d been told to expect 200 people.

I told them it was an extremely last minute event being held because our court hearing had been rescheduled 24 hours beforehand - we’d consider it a big win if we got 50.

Patrol cars from HCSO and even the county OEM arrived as we were talking and other coalition members began to arrive.

I’m very, very grateful to the officers at the scene who responded appropriately, kindly, and collaboratively.

Before we’d even arrived, they’d used portable barriers to make sure we weren’t impeding pedestrian traffic or the courthouse entry.

When they realized there was an extra 0 added to the crowd size estimates, they largely dispersed.

At the end of it all, the rally was a success - despite the complete fiasco that is JC’s current hospital situation.

Looking forward to applying lessons learned from this event to future Coalition gatherings.

- Your neighbor, Caitlin

Hospital Closure / Temp. Restraining Order / Community Rally

Hey neighbors.

A quick summary for those who haven’t been following:

Christ Hospital was shut down illegally

The hospital got a temporary restraining order and stopped the public from being able to talk to the Department of Health about the impact of the closure.

The hospital is suing the department of health and claiming - literally - that public testimony about the closure “is irrelevant to the case.”

The hospital is now being used as a film set.

The case is being heard tomorrow. We’re holding a rally outside of the Brennan courthouse starting at 11:15.

Please - join us if you can!
