Mental health provider says I owe $1,206 after never submitting claims to insurance. What should I do? (Alabama)

I’m going to attach screenshots of my email conversation with the provider’s CFO, so I won’t repeat everything here. Basically, I received a $1,206 bill for mental health visits that I was never told weren’t being covered. Magellan says the provider never submitted the claims, but the provider says they were billed through BCBS and denied.
Magellan says I have out-of-network benefits and offered either a superbill for me to submit myself or a CART investigation. The provider has agreed to mail me a superbill but says the claims will probably be denied and that the cash-pay rate I was given was a courtesy.

I’m trying to figure out what my best next step is. Should I accept the superbill and see what Magellan covers, or ask Magellan to open the investigation? And can the provider increase my balance to the higher billing rate after already applying the cash-pay rate?

Has anyone dealt with something similar or have advice on how to handle this?

Btw 8/19/25 was my first ever appointment

They also don’t have the best reviews online at all

Got a $1,206 psychiatrist bill out of nowhere — never told there was an insurance issue. What do I do?

I’m looking for advice because I’m really confused and honestly livid about this bill.

I’ve pretty much been seeing the same psychiatrist since August 2025. At my first appointment on 8/19/2025, I was diagnosed with ADHD and prescribed Vyvanse. I gave them my insurance card (BCBS through my fiancé’s Michelin insurance), and I was charged for the comprehensive evaluation/testing, including the computer test.

After that, my appointments have literally just been medication follow-ups. I go in, they ask if everything is still the same with my insurance, I say yes, then I see the psychiatrist for sometimes less than a minute. He asks if my Vyvanse is working, I say yes, and he refills it. That’s basically it.

My follow-up dates were:
9/23/2025
12/5/2025
1/30/2026
2/27/2026
5/27/2026
7/27/2026

Every time I went back, I asked if they needed my insurance card again and was told “it’s already on file.” I never received a bill, statement, letter, phone call, or anything else from them.

So I assumed my insurance was processing everything normally, and I continued going to CVS and paying my normal amount for my medication.

Then today (8/27/2026) I got a letter saying:
“Magellan has removed our practice from its network, effective January 1, 2026.”
It says they can continue seeing me on a cash-pay basis and that they attached a “corrected bill.”
The bill is $1,206.15 and includes charges going all the way back to August 2025.

My fiancé checked the insurance information on his end, and the only claim he can find from this psychiatrist is the original August 19, 2025 evaluation/testing. It looks like they never submitted my follow-up visits to insurance at all, and I was never told there was a problem.

I’m just confused because if they knew they weren’t in-network starting January 1, 2026, why did nobody tell me at any of my appointments? And why am I only finding out about any of this now, 8 months later, with a $1,206 bill?

I haven’t paid it. What should I do? Should I contact BCBS/Magellan first or the psychiatrist’s billing office? Is there any way to dispute this or get the bill reduced/removed?

I attached the letter, bill, and insurance information with my personal information redacted.

Need advice: Buy our first home or rent a nicer apartment?

My partner and I are trying to decide if we should rent for another year or buy our first home, and I’d love to hear from people who have been in a similar situation.
Right now we live in a duplex that’s only $800/month, which is amazing financially, but we honestly aren’t happy there anymore. It’s pretty outdated, the kitchen is tiny, storage is limited, and we’re just feeling like we’ve outgrown it. We both make quite a bit more than we did (me now a registered nurse and him working at Michelin) when we moved in, so we’re ready for something nicer.
We’re looking at apartments around $1,600/month, but then we started wondering if we should just buy instead.

A little about us:
Household income is around $140k before taxes.
Both of our credit scores are above 720.
We’re first time home buyers.
We have about $5,000 we could put toward a down payment right now.
We have two house trained pets (a senior dog and a cat).
The biggest thing is that we’d really like to move within the next couple of months if possible. We also know we could do a better job saving. We tend to spend a lot on eating out, shopping, and experiences, so while our income is solid, our savings definitely don’t reflect it.
Would you:
Rent a nicer apartment for a year and focus on building a bigger down payment and emergency fund?
Or try to buy now with only about $5k down?
For those who have bought recently, do you regret waiting or regret buying too soon? I’d love to hear what you’d do in our situation.

What breed is my dog?

My sweet girl is 12 years old. Her fur is really soft and she sheds a lot if that helps.

Went to the animal shelter to donate some things and while I was there I ended up looking around and falling in love. I’m fostering this boy next week and curious if you guys knew what breed he looked like. His paws are HUGE

What tattoo to get next on leg to incorporate tree stump

Trying to decide what tattoo to get on my leg to incorporate this tree stump that I already have. I love this tat and it means a lot to me it’s just in an awkward placement and I want something to tie all together. I was thinking foliage, a tree, or decaying animal but just wanna hear some other ideas on how to make it flow
