Konflict - Third World Control

Jungle war metal from Sri Lanka.

One of those things you either love or absolutely hate. Very, very abrasive, very similar to early Tetragrammacide. Guitars sound like a malfunctioning vacuum cleaner run through an HM-2 with all knobs dimed. Ditto for vocals.

All things considered, I think it's pretty fucking great. Not something suited for everyday listening by any means, but I've had a hard on for this particular strain of Asian war metal for awhile now and this definitely scratches the same itch as Tetragrammacide, Brahmastrika, etc.

Hate Forest - Hour Of The Centaur

Not a black metal guy by any purist's standards, but I do love me some Hate Forest. This may be my favorite of the five I own.

There are no bad tracks here, but that opener is about as good as this stuff can get. Grade A shit.

Blasphemy - Fallen Angel Of Doom

That Ross Bay Cult shit. Some will say the production sucks but it's greatness is undeniable.

Primitive Man - Scorn

Filthy and disgusting. True nihilistic doom, hateful and full of spite.

Perfect for easy listening on a Sunday morning.

Old Man Gloom - Darkness Of Being

Simian metal. Not as strong as Christmas and No, but I'm definitely glad they kept this going.

Agoraphobic Nosebleed - Altered States of America

99 tracks on the A side let you know what's up. A blur of drum machine gun blast beats, samples, techno segues, and incomprehensible freak outs. It takes what Frozen Corpse Stuffed With Dope accomplished and takes it up a couple notches.

Worth listening to in its entirety at least once, just to say you did.

Grenadier - Wolves of the Trench

For those times you want to listen to Arghoslent but don't want Reddit to call you a Nazi.

In all seriousness, it's a really good album if Arghoslent worship is what you want. IMO, they might be the best at it, to the point that several riffs go beyond just influence and into plagiarism. It breaks no new ground, but neither does their source material really.

Not bad at all, and definitely worth a shot if Arghoslent is a no go for you.

Stargazer - The Scream That Tore the Sky

Some really cool stuff from Australia. Bought blind on a recommendation from someone who knows good shit, and I was not disappointed.

Like a mix of Opeth style progressive death metal with a dose of melodic black metal and a dash of Sigh's avant garde leanings.

Beyond pleasantly surprised by this band, and am looking forward to checking out the rest of their stuff

Nasum - Helvete

Their best work, imo. Swedish grindcore with some really good guitar work and a penchant for quick switches between the blastbeats and some chunky death metal riffage.

Wormrot - Dirge

My personal favorite album from one of the best grind bands around.

Very no nonsense approach to it, stripped down and super tight. Not nearly as dynamic as Hiss would be, but the tracks are memorable despite their brevity, which is hard to do sometimes.

Khanate - s/t

Stephen O'Malley's band that makes good music. Slow, nasty blackened doom, if there is such a thing. The new stuff is good, but this is their best.

The track Skin Coat would be a good introduction to those curious.

Abysmal Lord - Bestiary of Immortal Hunger

Because I have a fever, and the only prescription is more war metal. From NOLA, they lean more into a more black metal approach, rather than the caveman grind that's the apple of my eye. They don't reinvent anything, don't break new ground, but do what they do well.

For fans of the ***goat or goat*** type of bands.

Behold.Revenge.Collection

The state of the collection thus far, minus a couple cds in the car. Five full lengths, one split, with some tshirts, a back patch, and some clean stickers.

Agoraphobic Nosebleed + Cattle Press split

An oldie but goodie. Put out by Bovine in 97, it's a really good look at early ANb. Much less of a focus on samples and noise and none of the intricate programming of later stuff, just some thrashy riffs and really simple, rigid drum machine blast beats. The Cattle Press side is cool too, but the ANb side gets way more play.

Profanatica - Profanatitas de Domonatia

The OG of USBM, which is the superior strain of black metal. That is all.

Chepang - Jhyappa

Grindcore from Nepal that features two drummers. Similar to Pig Destroyer, they have an ability to switch from groove laden brutal shit and full throttle grind. A good grasp of how to shift dynamics in such short songs.

Definitely worth a listen if you like Pig Destroyer, Nasum, or the like.

Bog Body + Primitive Warfare 12" split

Some Stygian Black Hand shit. Primitive Warfare side rips like it should. I wasn't familiar with Bog Body prior to hearing this, but they really surprised me. Gave me some Profanatica vibes which caught me off guard considering who was on the other side. Good stuff

Primitive Man - Immersion

Few do hatred and violence like these dudes. This is the good shit. Underrated album in their discography.
