Yesterday, the world gathered in Buena Park.

Not in a boardroom. Not in a government building. Not behind a screen.

But in a plaza.

Children waved flags. Elders shared stories. Strangers became friends for ninety minutes. The drums of Korea echoed through The Source. The chants of Mexico rose from the crowd. And for a moment, people from different languages, histories, and backgrounds spoke the same universal language: joy.

Soccer has always been more than a game. It is a reminder that competition and respect can coexist. That we can cheer passionately for our teams without losing sight of our shared humanity.

As the Councilmember representing District 2, I was proud to see Buena Park become a meeting place for the world. A city where cultures are not merely tolerated, but celebrated. A city where diversity is not a challenge to overcome, but a gift to embrace.

Congratulations to 🇲🇽 Mexico on their 2-0 victory and 🇰🇷 Korea on their 2-1 win. Now we look forward to June 18, when these two proud nations meet on the pitch. Will @carlosherreranews be there?

May the better team win.

And may the spirit of friendship, respect, and good sportsmanship be the true champion.
