Location: Hudsonville, Michigan.
Just got a ticket for going 5 over in a school zone 4 minutes before the time ended (4:06 is the ticket, 4:10 is when the new speed limit is ended) in Michigan. I was going 50 (the original speed limit) and it changes to 35 suddenly, but the officer said he will “be lenient this time and only give me 5 over.” But the ticket itself both says 40/35 and 50/35, and specifically includes the school zone. I’m getting married in 3 months and was just starting to look at insurance rates. This obviously will increase my insurance by quite a bit, and I’m frustrated bc I was barely within the window of the speed limit.
Should I go to court and try to get it removed? If so, what should I do? I already got a point removed for being pulled over for a rolling stop sign a year ago through the basic driver’s ed program thing.
Sorry I forgot to take a photo of a clean table/lamp-less area so this is the best I can do for now. I’m not living there yet, I’ll try to take some cleaner photos tomorrow!
