Photos that were funny I think

  1. Two ruggedly handsome rebels after a fracas in the isolated desert sharing stolen glance

  2. Finding out the hard way what happens if you use poison in a city and this guy just levitated away from the massacre. He said see U another day Anubis

Any other Hairy Mclairy ladies here? Hirsutism on face with no pathology.  Hoping to hear how other ladies manage this, especially from an emotional/confidence perspective.

It's taken me some courage to post this but at this stage I want to address it. This is a cosmetic issue. I have no underlying medical causes of hirsutism, just my genes!

Pic in comments.

I am woman in my early 30s. In the last 12 months or so, my facial hair has increased a lot, and also become much thicker and darker. I used to get my face threaded, but with the hair thickness and volume, I end up with a lot of bruising and bleeding. Waxing has a similar issue, and also gives me skin irritation.

I've been shaving my face just about every day, but the razor even feels quite uncomfortable, like it is pulling. I'm using a men's razor with saving gel (My lovely husband taught me how, he has to shave daily for work, however I sometimes feel my hair is thicker than his!)

I have ruled out potential health causes - everything is normal, this runs in my family. My mum was dealing with similar at my age, but she had already gone grey in her 20s so she said it wasn't as noticeable. (Silver lining?)

I have tried laser but it came back thicker after 2 treatments. Mum had electrolysis back then, and said it all grew back.

I know it is normal for us to grow more hair as we age, but it's really getting to me. I know it is noticeable, especially if I wear makeup as the contrast between my pale skin and dark hair is greater. I'm also getting ingrowns, to help assuage this I gently exfoliate with a flannel. On weekends/days at home I skip shaving to give my skin a rest. Photos are 2 days growth.

I'd love to hear from other women who've dealt with this. I actually don't think there are many other hair removal treatments, but I'd really like to hear how you manage not only the appearance, but also the emotional side. Sometimes I wish there was an underlying health cause, because then there could be a treatment pathway (irrational, but it's how I feel). I know women with medical hirsutism can have it way worse, dealing with varying severity, and my heart goes out to you.

It's so hard to find information online about what "Normal" is for women's facial hair. When I try to find reference pictures, just about everything is either an ad, or a more clinical example aimed at medical practitioners.

This is purely cosmetic, but it does impact my confidence a lot. I wish we did truly live in a world where women wouldn't be sneered at for this, but unfortunately irl this won't play out that way.

Thank you for reading. And thanks to the Mods for approving this.

Grey area - would you consider this discrimination?

Seen in a takeaway food shop in an area with a big Mandarin speaking population. (Inner west)

I understand that a lot of their customers would speak a Chinese or South East Asian language/dialect, and they may use Chinese language delivery apps like EASI or Hungry panda. They have said the job requires fluent "Chinese" and English, all makes sense.

What bothers me most is they have said a "female " worker only. I know this happens in some customer facing roles whether they write it in the ad. But it bothers me that blokes aren't even invited to apply.

I do wonder if it's unfair to only write in Mandarin. A lot of my friends didn't learn to read and write if they grew up here. So it rules out even a lot of Chinese Aussies. We have also found these places often don't pay award and trade on the naivete of foreign students.

So what do we think? Fair or not? Worth worrying about?

If I can think of one food that won't work for delivery, it's fried ice cream

Also sounds like a total flog

Campbelltown (SA) Local Government - Why are people so mad at Cr Yassir Ajrish?

I don't live in South Australia, but I've been seeing so much brouhaha on Facebook every time this guy posts. He must be spending a fair whack on Facebook ads but that's not my issue.

Campbelltown Cr Yassir Ajrish is running for Mayor. Apparently the current Mayor has had some code of conduct breaches, and from what I can see, Ajrish is largely campaigning on the platform of improving local infrastructure, lower rates and some environmental policies. It seems like a pretty reasonable stance to me, but every time I see one of his posts, the comments are some of the most off-the-wall, insane and nasty vitriol, seemingly because he...is Muslim?

Here are some verbatim examples of comments on his recent posts (All public, but just using first names)

Ray: "No thanks. This is australia"

Liam: "What are your thoughts on inbreeding ?"

Ronaldo: "Sharia law incoming. Look at London."

Wayne: "Never trust a snake wearing an Australian outback hat in the Suburbs …. Beware of this thing!!"

Ray(different Ray to the one above): "Run if this man approaches you, he wants your vote do he can start the process of introducing Sharia Law

Don’t believe me

Just ask him"

I know that unfortunately there are a lot of racist and hateful people in our country who dole out abuse online rather than doing something productive, but it was so extreme I started digging around to see if this guy had ever said anything related his religion, or Sharia law (that is a recurring theme in the comments), but I've found nothing.

Am I missing something? Are these real people? Are they bots? Why do they hate him so much?

The most charitable thing I can say about these commenters is that, I accept, there are some things about extreme interpretations of Islam that are of concern (As with every religion and ideology) It's bullshit to expect a local Councillor from Adelaide to somehow....fix that? This guy seems to just be...an Aussie Muslim who wants to help his community?

There was some local news reporting about the torrent of abuse, and there seems to have been a stoush in council chambers where this guy was ejected, but the article is paywalled and I can't read the details.

I'd be very grateful if any locals can fill me in. It's bothering me a lot to think that our Muslim neighbours, colleagues and friends are putting up with this kind of shit on the reg.

Thanks for reading and I can't really express why I'm so invested, but I feel like Aussies must stand up to racism and Islamaphobia in our communities. And yes, it's probably my fault for using Facebook but what the fuck?

Review of my local continental deli (2 pages)

I have always had good experiences here, sometimes you have to wait behind customers who are stocking up on a lot of things, or elderly people who need a bit more time to pack their bag or pay in cash. It's part of the charm!

My husband wants to dress up like Finland 2026 but I'm not sure silver is his colour.

How about Estonia 2026? There are only two of us but we can put our cat in a white outfit as well.

I never really shop at Myer now except for shoes (why is it so hard to find a 42 in store to try on)

I needed something a bit specific (cotton long nightie while I'm resting from surgery).

They had one, I ordered it two weeks ago and it hasn't shipped. Their online chat bot doesn't load so I phoned up, spoke to the AI tele menu (which couldn't understand my non - English surname ) and spoke to a nice lady who told me "it's being worked on but I can't say when"

I replied it's already been two weeks. How much longer will it be? I haven't bought an alternative in the meantime because I was waiting for this one.

She put me on hold to check and came back and said it was out of stock. She was apologetic and processed a return as a refund. (Annoying because I got a credit note. Not really a refund )

I wanted to send feedback but there's no way to email them or submit feedback online.

I know this is a stupid problem and not worth spending too much time on, but were they ever going to contact me about the order being cancelled?

Low-key considering giving the credit away tbh.

Edit: Thank you for the advice in the comments RE refund. I did speak to their call centre, they said because I paid partially with velocity points they could only offer a credit. I suppose otherwise people would try to use it as a loophole to convert velocity points to cash? Anyway it wasn't a lot of money. I'm going to ask my sisters if they want the voucher because I know they like to buy makeup from there.
