Laundry bag / netting on black

Ladies, gentlemen, miscellaneous... Little help if you please.

I'm after a pic or two (or however many you got) of a rifle, any rifle, that has the usual two or three colour can job over netting / laundry bags / whatever, BUT, with the base colour being black...

If anyone has anything or can direct me to any pics, please do.

Thanks for your time 🍻

You folks know scopes... Height look ok?

Nothing fancy, CTR with a Chinese scope (sorry 😅) Does the scope look high to you folks? Looking at other pics here, it is looking a little high to me, maybe just paranoid.

I did similar to the ring height guide in the pinned posts and it seems to line up well enough for me doing the usual eyes closed, cheek weld, open eye thing.

It's just looking a bit high now from looking at the rifle side on, so I'm wondering if it looks blatantly wrong to you lot and I should adjust my position and go lower, or if it's cool as is if it's working for me? It may just look a little big to me relative to the little 20" .223 it's on also, so maybe that's all it is?

Also, I've read stuff on Google, but from real world experience what's your preferred scope mounting process regarding getting it level?

I put a diddy bit of lube on the rings, where they meet the rail, and followed the torque settings, I usually use a couple of little block style spirit level things, one on the elevation knob and one on the rail.

That's worked fine for me for close up stuff, LPVO's and air rifles, but seems it may not be the correct method and on something which will shoot further, of course it's gonna be more critical to get it right and do it properly, so thought I'd ask.

Appreciate you folks and sorry for likely beating a dead horse 😬

Damaged upper .22 AR

Hello, fellow rimfire enjoyers 🍻

So I have a damaged upper receiver, courtesy of trying an insufficient vise grip upper holder, against my better judgement but I still did it, and now I'm paying the price for my own stupidity and am very disappointed in myself. I'm too old to be this dumb 🤦

I will be replacing this, one way or another, so I will listen to warnings and have not made my mind up... But I guess you know where this is going 😅

To me, it seems most all of the pressure is going to be contained/felt by the barrel, extension and bolt...

I don't want to sound like those folks with bald tires asking if they're safe to drive on until payday, but I'll power through it... as the damage does not appear to be branching out towards the barrel or whatnot, and it is 22lr not a centre fire or even a WMR, would this be (relatively) safe to shoot in the interim?

I appreciate your experience and advice, and of course anything done before now or after any advice is my own damn fault - Feel free to reply hypothetically if preferred 🤣

Thanks!

Don't be like me - broken upper

Borrowed a janky wooden vice grip for AR uppers... It became immediately apparent there was movement so stopped without even a quarter turn of the wrench, but that movement was already a game over moment 😩

Emailed Tippmann and my local distributor, but not got high hopes for my wallet or if I can even buy a new upper?

These situations are WAY worse when you know it's your own fault too, so don't be like me... Do what smart people do and wait until you have all (proper!) tools and equipment at hand before fucking with perfectly good things... Especially if it's the most fun rifle in your meagre collection 😑

Right, good talk, I'm gonna go cry in the corner 😅

Handguard removal

Hope you're all doing good 👍

I've got an M4-22 Elite 12.5, alloy mlok handguard as usual.

I loosened the 4x grub screws wayyyy out, bolts must literally be in by a thread, wobbling away, but that handguard still wouldn't come off.

What am I missing? 😅

EDIT Even the tiny little bit the grub screws were in was enough for them to hang up on the barrel nut... had to remove them entirely, can't remember ever having to do that with anything, but here we are 👌 If anyone else has this (unlikely), that's all it is lol

S1 shotgun query

Morning all, I wanted to pick your brains if I may.

This is likely very obvious to most of you, but my FAC appears to have a 12 gauge slot on it and a note about target shotguns under the additional conditions.

I do have a SGC with a 2+1 and O/U on it, but with having a shotgun slot and this note on my FAC, would this just be a note regarding my interest in using my 2+1 for practical sometime, or would this be a legitimate section 1 shotgun slot?

I assumed the latter, with that seeming the logical answer with it being on the FAC at all, but am unsure so I'd appreciate you folks' experience with this either way, thank you 👍

SGC/FAC - No club affiliation

I've only been down this route with full target club membership myself, looking at home office stuff this seems ok, but I figured there are some very clued up people here so excuse my ignorance and let me know what you reckon, to save bothering my FEO at this stage and adding to people's two year wait times for grants 🙄

My Mrs shoots air rifles a bit and has shit clays and targets with rimfire rifles.

She is the head gardener, but more of a groundskeeper, at a manor house with increasing squirrel and dear issues.

She doesn't have the time to dedicate to joining a range properly with attendance expectations, but of course can pay a little extra and still go to a range, and is not into the club atmosphere or competition, but she'd like to shoot some clays with the 12ga and possibly pest birds and get permission to take these squirrel and rabbit numbers down a bit with a bolt action .22lr.

I appreciate going after the deer and a suitable calibre for them, especially as a new grant without a club/range membership would be an overstep for her by current police logic, so we'll ignore that problem for now (though I do have a .223 and the main issue there is muntjac, I've just never shot anywhere but club ranges) and focus on the squirrels and bunnies.

Assuming she gets a permission in place, and it's available for the police to inspect, I assume this would count as her "good reason"?

Thanks in advance for any insight, and I do appreciate this is another irritating grant question so my apologies... I suppose at least it doesn't have "how long..." or "mental health" in the title 🙂

Real world experience - Barrel length

I know this has probably been covered, likely a few times... I searched and read some old stuff, but I figured people have learnt a lot in lately and the PRS guys and girls have figured more stuff out, so thought I'd ask you folks real world experience with barrel length.

I have an AR style .22 but would like a bolt action, will run a suppressor on it and will mostly be <100 yard targets and bunnies and stuff out in the fields round here.

Keeping weight and length down, I keep looking at 16" barrels and figured the minimal amount of powder from a .22 will burn off in that, but now I see long .22 PRS rifles and stuff it's got me wondering.

Would a 20" or even 24" really be a noticeable increase in precision? I get wanting to really split hairs and take every advantage for competitive target shooting, not that I'm trying to half ass a rifle for hunting but I guess as long as it's reasonably reliable and accurate it'll be good?

Appreciate your thoughts 👍

Oddly specific target size question

Hope you're all doing good and sorry for the weird question and rambling word salad 👍

So I have one of those AR-ish Tippmann Elites in 12.5" with a 1x Prism (wonky eyeball / astigmatism) on it.

I have bolt action rifles for when I feel the need to shittily attempt precision shooting, but this one is more of a cheap fun rifle and I mostly shoot standing, unsupported at IPSC style head/torso targets at 20 to 50 yards.

Most of you here will likely be American, where you have a much better attitude to training for HD / SD than we do here, but while it's not approved of here I do enjoy this kind of thing, so what I'm wandering is...

In you folks experience, if you were using a .22 AR for practice/training for your 5.56 AR with this purpose in mind, what size target would you generally be shooting at at 25 yards, for example?

I get the aim small, miss small idea and it makes sense and I will work towards being more precise, but on the flip side I don't expect tiny groups from this gun, with cheap ammo, and especially as a casual shooter who is shooting unsupported.

Appreciate your expertise ladies and gentlemen 🍻

"Community challenge"

Hey, hope you're all doing good 👍

I'm not a gamer, excuse my ignorance, but love Wildlands and got 40 days on it since I got it at it's release (I'm sure this is fuck all for many of you, but it's crazy for me personally).

I largely neglected the challenges for years, only recently got on them and of course the task force stuff is out of reach now. I see the community challenges are still active / being reached, but even if I do what is asked and do it before the bar has been filled, I never see a tick or a reward once it filled?

Is this just me or is this something else I missed the boat on?

Appreciate your help 🍻
