Not to brag, but…

I cooked our aging produce instead of getting takeout for dinner!

That’s right. It’s been a long day. Started work 2 hours early to try to catch up on a project. Was taking our kid to an event after work/daycare right downtown. Where all the restaurants are. Soooo tempting to cave and go out or take out. But we bought so many vegetables a week (or more 😳) ago that were on their last legs. Ground meat right there in the fridge ready to go. So I dragged my tired ass into the kitchen, put a bunch of stuff in a steamer basket, set up our rice cooker, and went to the kid event. Then threw ground beef in a pan when we got home and voilà—dinner I already had paid for.

Will we cave and get takeout tomorrow? Maybe. But today, I used what we had. Today, I won.

Edit: You sure do know how to make a gal feel good. 😊 Cheers to the end of this long day.

What are we doing about boob sweat?

It has become relentless. Under ‘em, between ‘em, and now somehow on top on my décolletage?! I shower and I just get hot and humid immediately, even when finishing with cool water. Help!

I broke my desk chair

Fancy thing, stretch mesh on a frame. I sat down yesterday and the mesh pulled away from the frame and it’s done.

To be fair, no one saw because it was in my home office. And the chair is at least 9 years old. But I’ve been struggling with weight gain, depression, and poor self esteem, and this does not help. Especially since my motivation at work has been hard to come by lately as it is.

▲ 6 r/Names

Those who often use a nickname: When you started school, which name was on your papers and everything?

We love our child’s one-syllable nickname, and their legal 4-syllable name actually came after when we wanted them to have options for more formal name. Think like Liz and Elizabeth.

Our kid is now 4 and starting a school program, and the school asked us to pick which one they should be taught to write, used as a label on everything, and be on their assignments as they progress through the years.

We’re not sure what to do. Neither of us parents have names that were prone to nicknames, and we can’t remember how the kids around us who did went through it…did their papers say Kate or Katherine? Etc. We have asked our child for their preference, but being 4, our child has given us a different answer every time. 😅

Appreciate anyone with experience weighing in!

Edit: Thanks for the responses…opinions are mixed, though I’m seeing more for full name, I think. I should have clarified:

  1. Kid is registered with formal name (though I included “Nickname” in quotes on every form)

  2. Kid actually already can write nickname. Letter formation needs some work of course, but kid can spell it unassisted. Kid can also recognize both nickname and formal name when reading.

Grateful for my amazing kid

A lot of important stuff in my life is a bit of a mess right now, but I am so grateful for my amazing elderly toddler who buoys me up and keeps me full of wonder, and of love for them and pride in all they attempt and accomplish. 💕
