Hi Social-lights!
There is a content girly called *AwomancalledGeorge* who advocates sparkle Fridays.
An encrusted sweatshirt is a good way to participate
Sweatshirt? Anthro
Pants? Amzn drop, couple years ago
Hat? Gift
Shirt? Black linen, Gap maybe...old. very old
Shoes? La Canadienne, suede--sherpa lined-- scrumptious.
But that's enough about me.

Hi Social-lights!
I like organza. It gives me an ephemeral look. It helps calm obnoxious patterns (although I am a fan) and complicated construction. In this DA (daily arrangement) I wanted something to blend the past and the present. There is a lot going on in this outfit even though I settled on a two toned story.
Leather skirt? Thrifted, 1980s vintage
Leather biker jacket? BR
Leather belt? A prize from Converted Closet
Ostentatious tights? Torrid
Shoes? Via Spiga, vintage 2004 (fun Chicago trip)
Hat? Thrifted
Jabot? BR, in honor of Ruth Bader Ginsberg--the Notorious RBG
Brooch? Vintage coldwar, made in West Germany.
But that's enough about me.
Don't grow tired of doing good. Even if it seems like it's nothing. It is definitely something. I see you. Your community sees you. Quietly, your good encouraged someone to apply again, walk again, open the door again, write again, post again. ๐ธโค๏ธ๐

Hi Social-lights!
Someone on another "sosh-mead" site declares *Sparkle Fridays*. Here's my addition to her sparkle.
It got me to thinking about why I get dressed and why I keep doing it.
I do not dress as an act of resistance alone.
I dress as an act of insistence.
Resistance [to me] centers the thing being opposed.
Insistence centers the self.
To insist is to declare:
I remain human
.
I remain perceptive
.
I remain emotionally available to beauty
.
I remain capable of delight
.
I remain worthy of ornament, spectacle, and joy
.
Especially now
.
Especially during tumultuous times when efficiency, fear, productivity, and exhaustion threaten to flatten human expression into mere functionality.

Hi Social-lights!
It was too cold to wear these pants on Wednesday in PDX. It was cold and rainy but I made this WFH daily arrangement work. There's a lot going on here and my comfort prevailed. I look disheveled and warm. It was a productive workday. I really love the kind of work that I do and I'm ready to share my skills at the next level.
Pants? FP, on sale
Sweater 1? Anthro, clearance
Sweater 2? Anthro, clearance
Tshirt? Reading Rainbow ๐
Suede clogs? Uggs
I need to be more creative. I'm going to start doing just that. How about you?
But that's enough about me.
Do all the good you can do.

Hi Social-lights!
A quick "hello" on Thursday as 13 meetings in 8 hours doesn't quite add up.
Hat? Anthro, oldie
Pants? Gap, oldies
Shirt? Anthro, thrifted
Sweater? Nordie, clearance
Scarf? Escada, thrifted
Suede Ut belt? FP, sale
Shoes? Charlotte Stone
Bag? Veronica Beard
But that's enough about me.
When you decide your LoTD make sure it's for you. Resist the urge to optimize for who sees you. Instead know that you too are worthy of ornament and spectacle and joy.

These gems of rament need so little and will jive with all the extra you want to give them. Three's Company extra is what this outfit makes me feel like. I could be in Mrs. Ropers bridge club.๐คฉ

Rings? Etsy
Bag? Ubuntu
Hair? All mine. I'm openly gray. This is my silver disobedience. Get into the gray agenda.

Hi Social-lights!
This skirt is a reproduction of what tennis skirts used to look like. Long, pleated and white. I got this one years ago at JCrew or Banana republic.
I love to wear white. It is so crisp and refreshing to me. It also could be that my grandmother was a nurse and wore white head to toe for work and seeing her in her uniform is a fond memory for me. She also loved to wear white fashionable clothing.
Anywho, the shirt is a cotton french dot with a sweet double collar of organza.
My cashmere sweatshirt splashes this look of the day with nostalgia. Brooches? For no apparent reason. Tennis bracelet is a gift from a follower on IG. ๐ Who lives in EU. My hat is from Gap kids--tiny head.๐
But that's enough about me.
What's new for you these days?

Hi Social-lights!
It's my Mother's day outfit!๐
Today is joyous for some and troublesome for others.
I am mothered and I mother. Because of the joy I get from being a mom, this day does not sting for me, however, I hold space for those who seek refuge. โค๏ธโ๐ฉน
I'm wearing the polka-dot dress for the first time. It's second hand. It came with a slip that I switched out for the day to my neon pink slip dress. The polka-dot dress will be a duster over jeans and a tank top. I also see it over wide leg pants. Stay tuned...
Shoes? New sandals I bought at Xmas.
Necklace? Vintage 1950s as well as the brooch.
Hat? Old target
Ribbon Sash? Mood fabrics
And that's it for me.

Hi Social-lights!
It is a truth universally acknowledged that a woman newly admitted to a society of kindred spirits must be in want of the proper words [and garments] to express her joy โ and yet I find myself delightfully at a loss [for words].
May 2, I had the very great pleasure of attending my first Jane Austen Society Tea, and I confess my heart is quite full.
With the highest esteem and the most grateful of dispositions,

Hi Social-lights!
First. Thank you for being you. The comments and awards ๐คฏ that y'all bestow upon me for doing this thing I've loved for decades, getting dressed, gives me all the feels. ๐ฅฐ๐ฅฐ๐ฅฐ
This platform, much like real life is full of people who just want to root for other people. If I had a million thank yous I would not have enough.
To the folks from underrepped communities that give me big ups, ๐คฉ๐คฉ๐คฉ.
To women everywhere, we were always the butt of the fashion industry jokes until recently when we've taken it on toe to toe. We make ourselves proud.Thank you.
Maximalism is not just resistance it's INSISTENCE. We insist on our humanity. We insist that we belong. We insist that everything can be added. Cheers!

Hi Social-lights!
I had an idea last night for these pants. This outfit isn't what I thought but it turned out okay.
I look like I work for GRC: gender reveal consultants. Ha!๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Anywho. I like pink and the cornflower blue and khaki-- so wearing them together feels cozy as can be to me.
My hubby said something on our walk today that was really funny. He got me good๐คฃ
Blazer? Talbots, too years ago
Pants? Target, too years ago
Pink shirt? Ralph Lauren, likely thrifted
Denim pullover? JCrew, 2 years ago

Hi Social-lights!
Yesterday was a productive Monday. Thinking about my LoTD brought up the question, what if I...? Wore a summery dress with all black? My answer, it works!
This dress is old Victoria Beckham x target. The shoes are Kork Ease from years ago too. The hat is thrifted. The tights are Snag and the tulle underdress is Anthropologie but about 5 years ago.
This was a pleasant surprise. I will do this again.

It's sunny in PDX again and around 70ยฐ.
Wednesdays where I work is W๐W, wear orange Wednesdays. So here I am! I like orange, so it's an easy color for me to choose.
I remembered the flower brooch last night, and it all fell into place. Today is the debut of my Melissa jelly shoes. The pants are Anthro clearance a few years ago. The fabric is this cotton nylon that has great body and texture. The sweaters are Kate Spade. The striped one I donned for the afternoon walk.
Not much else to see here.
What are your Happiness Habits? I just learned of this concept and I definitely have some but articulating them will take some time.
Anywho, TTFN.

METHOD
Begin with the blue as your base โ cook low and slow, allowing the jeans and shirt to find one another and settle into their shared chromatic understanding. Introduce the madras blazer as you would fold something delicate into a batter: gently, with respect for what is already there.
Close each layer not with clasps or common fastenings but with declarations โ the bow brooch, the corsage โ as one might tie a ribbon around something worth keeping.
Finish with socks that remember what the shoes have forgotten to say, and crown the whole arrangement with the headband: a brushstroke of warmth that tells the color story quietly, from the top.
Do not rush the loafer. It knows where it's going.
Pairs beautifully with: a slow afternoon, a farmers market at golden hour, or any occasion that rewards the patient and the particular.
