Movie Origins Man-at-Arms on shelves at Target

Unfortunately they wouldn’t sell it to me as the street date is 7/12 so I have to wait until Sunday. Had some Chronicles Skeletor and Trap-Jaws in stock along with the vintage He-Man and Skeletor

Why didn’t skeletor’s troops just grab the sword?

During the battle between he-man and trap jaw, the power sword falls onto the bridge and lands behind trap-jaw and directly in front of Skeletor’s troops. If the whole mission was to recover the power sword, why didn’t they just grab it there getting their ship and takeoff?

I’m done for now

I’m stil waiting to grab Man-at-arms, Teela and Skeletor in the movie origins line, and I’ll get the remaining comics as they release, and then maybe grab the 4K…but then I’m done I promise

Round 3

Went for a third time tonight. This time took my 2 sons. They really enjoyed it. They were disappointed there wasn’t more Orko and BattleCat and my attempts to explain how CGI costs affect movies didn’t really help 😂

Also, 2 things I loved and haven’t seen mentioned here. 1 - Adam saying “God I hate Darryl” when he’s in the HR managers office, and then 2. Later in the movie when we see HR Skeletor, he slaps Darryl who is walking by for no reason whatsoever

Help me understand

I’m looking for 3 tickets for Tuesday night (1/2 off) - 1 adult ticket is $11.99 pre-discount, so $6 savings shown. 2 kids tickets at $8.99 each ($17.98) so wouldn’t that be $9 savings? What am I missing here?

What have I done

Saw the movie opening night. Immediately went out and bought a He-Man (for my 9 year old, of course). A few days later the figures went on sale at Target so grabbed Spikor. Saw the movie a second time. Then tonight I just ordered the deluxe Beast Man from Mattel Creations. Having adult money with a child’s obsession is not good news…

(Also I have them posed on our Barbie Dreamhouse. It’s Mattel, right?)

Second viewing thoughts on Masculinity

I was able to see it again last night and was able to absorb more of the dialogue this time around and understand the messaging. Here is my interpretation of the "Toxic Masculinity" and how there have been different perspectives on the movies interpretation -

- As a boy, Adam is criticized by his father for not being strong enough, for being weak. He is forced to train for battle against his will, and Duncan is tasked with "building a man out of him". I think Randor represents old views/ideals of masculinity, whereas Duncan is sort of a bridge player - he believes in old school masculinity but also sees Adam for who he is, and isn't as frustrated by his lack of commitment or dedication to the training.

Randor eventually regrets this view - or rather the way he impressed it upon his son. He's a father and is doing what he thought was best at the time to prepare his son for the world. As a dad, I can relate - I often will think I'm doing the right thing for my kids and then my wife will have a perspective that is different and more effective; we both want what is best for our kids ultimately.

- Adam's experience on Earth represents more progressive views of masculinity - his job at HR is focused on "having the power to be my best self" and talking things out. His roommate sits alone crying to rom-coms, although he still tries to hide that because it's not universally accepted still. Adam feels out of place through all this, although he is really good at dialogue and conflict resolution. This shows that he has the ability to be emotionally mature.

- Back on Eternia - Adam uses his experiences from Earth in combination with what he thought he was supposed to be as a child - strong, muscular, overpowering - to truly become the best version of himself - He-Man - someone who's natural instinct is to be kind, empathatic and do the right thing, but also capable to stand up and fight when needed.

- Duncan also shows growth in that he understands the need to fight, but also learns that understanding feelings and talking about what is going on inside is so valuable. Men are often belittled (by other men no less) for discussing feelings, yet we have a huge mental health crisis in our world. Duncan again is the bridge between old school and new school - Toughness, strength, protect your family...but also be mindful of your feelings and those around you.

Anyway, those are just my thoughts on it. Would love to hear others thoughts.

I loved the movie the second time as much as the first, and can't wait to watch again. I really hope we get a sequel, even if it's lower budget.

Origins movie figures

Has anyone seen any of these besides He-Man and Spikor? Has Mattel given any release dates for these? I really want Teela and Skeletor.

[TOMT] Yankee Doodle - LASAGNA

In the 90s there was a kids show of some sort, maybe on Nickelodeon, where they were singing Yankee Doodle, but when it got to the line with macaroni a kid yells “LASAGNA”

I cannot find any evidence of this, but I know it happened so it has to be out there somewhere. Please someone help me find what this is from!
