I (30) went out with my friend (32) specifically to go dancing. We go out, live it up, and are having a great time drinking and dancing. After a few hours of blissful no-men hours, two single guys approach us and start hovering around, desperately trying to catch our eye. You know the gross thing men do when they’re trying to dance on you but also observe you like you’re a piece of meat they can’t wait to get their claws into? That.
I make .1 second of eye contact with this dude and suddenly BAM, he’s on me, trying to touch my hips and grind on me. I IMMEDIATELY halt, put my hand directly in his face, shout “NO!” And step a full foot back. What does this idiot do? Try to step around my hand to get closer to me!!! Also; not to stereotype, but this guys was clearly from a culture that we all know is extremely patriarchal and native women are not safe there. So he does not care about a NO, clearly.
Anyway after I give him the stink eye AGAIN, he finally gets the hint and moves away. To move right onto a group of freshly 21 year old girls and their boyfriends dancing together. What does he do? Single out one of the non-coupled up girls and tries to grind on her too. All the college boys that are in the group? Doing NOTHING. just watching it happen and watching this poor girl look uncomfortable.
At this point my friend and I have had enough. I find a bouncer, point to these creeps, and get them swiftly kicked out of the bar!! In the meantime, my friend pulls the college boys together and reads them the riot act for not speaking up and protecting the single girl. She has these boys nodding their heads and practically yes ma’aming at this point lmao. The girl that was getting grinded on came over and thanked us for intervening!
The rest of the night was smooth sailing and all of us girlies danced without further incident because of Evil Women. I will not allow men to wreck my peace, my fun, just because they feel entitled to access to women.
