2018 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports, chain gets too tight riding offroad

Hi everyone!

I'm trying to understand whats wrong with my rear suspension presumably so my chain gets super tight when riding offroad.

I start riding in the morning with normal slack, but noticed when riding offroad there's no slack whatsoever, chain gets super tight.

I need to raise the rear wheel on the center stand, offload the suspension and when I put the wheel back on the ground, chain slack goes back to normal.

I check slack regularly, and never experienced this until my last roadtrip.

Me with riding and camping gear weigh around 275lbs or 125kg.

I need to resolve this so I don't f.up my transmission.

Thanks for yiur input, and ride safe! ✌🏻

2018 ATAS manual rear suspension upgrade recommendations?

Hi folks!

I'm setting up my 2018 ATAS manual as primarily long distance adv touring bike, weeks on the road, 50/50 pavement and gravel/forest roads, with occasional gnarly and sketchy side quests (bcs adv, right).

Me and my riding and camping gear currently weigh around 300lbs~130k (rough estimate) riding without panniers.

But planning on adding racks and panniers and a few more luxury items for extended trips, and I'll be looking at 330lbs or 150kg (even rougher estimate).

I'm already experiencing extreme chain tension on rough roads and I need to resolve that ASAP.

Never upgraded suspension before, so this is a new rabbit hole for me.

Looking for quality brands, this is my forever bike, and I'm buy once cry once type of a guy, looking for tips and recommendations...

Your input is much appreciated, thanks and ride safe everyone! ✌🏻

Does anyone have a pdf Haynes repair manual for a 2018 crf1000l ATAS?

Figured it would be great to have a pdf on my phone if or when I get myself in a predicament, or my bike decides to get me in a predicament on a roadtrip.

Much appreciated! ✌🏻

MABDR tire recommendations?

Hi everyone,

I'm planning riding the MABDR this summer on my 2018 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports.

What tire would you recommend for a large bike, considering I'll have 1000+ mi of pavement to the trail and back home?

I'm leaning towards the dunlop trailmax mission, anyone riding this and what are your thoughts on them?

Thanks, and ride safe! ✌🏻

Hi everyone,

I'm (over)thinking redesigning my travel setup and need a few ideas how to hack/bodge this. 😁

I'm looking for a way to carry my tools (2 bags) and 2 water bottles on the bike and I can't find a good spot for them.

For context, I travel with a touratech tail bag on a tail rack, and moskomoto 55l scout duffel on a passenger seat, in front of that touratech bag. Large moskomoto molle pouch strapped to the beaver tail (current water storage).

In the front I have two 8l givi canyon crash bar bags and moskomoto nomax tank bag.

And this works good for me, but...

I carry my tool roll and a tnf base camp travel canister with spare parts inside duffel bag, which is a lot of weight up high and also inconvenient in case I need to get to it during the day.

I was thinking strapping my tools and parts to passenger foot pegs and strapping water bottle holders to the grab handles.

But can't find any bags that fit neat there.

Any ideas for bags, holders, mounts...?

Thanks and ride safe everyone! ✌🏻
