Recommend a horror movie. If I haven't seen it, I'll watch it.

EDIT: Okay thanks for all the suggestions. I've already added 50 movies to the list. I think that's enough for now 😅 I'll watch them in the order I added them.

Suggest a horror movie, and if I haven't seen it I'll watch it ASAP. The only rule: it must be a sincere recommendation for a movie you've seen and liked.

If I don't reply to your comment it means I've seen the movie.

I've made a Letterboxd list to keep track of all the recs I haven't seen https://boxd.it/VuWoY

How often do you buy Criterions outside of a 50% off sale?

This is something I'm genuinely curious about. I can't think of the last time I bought one outside of a sale, but I'm curious if others do it. To me it just seems nuts to not wait, given that they're on sale for roughly 1/6 of the year.

Today's "I forgot to buy this when I went to B&N so I bought it on Amazon" haul

I've seen it but will rewatch it soon because I can't wait to see how amazing it looks in 4k. Best looking movie I've ever seen.

The day you stop expecting horror movies to scare you will be the most freeing day of your life

The theme of this sub seems to be "nothing scares me". IMHO horror fans need to stop thinking like this. For one thing, everyone is scared by different things, so trying to measure "scariness" is like trying to determine which color is the best.

But more importantly, fear is just one of many things horror can - and should - be about. It can also be gross, surreal, funny, violent, atmospheric, or just completely unhinged. Monsters, practical effects, chaos, etc.

If horror should be judged solely by how scary it is, then indisputable horror masterpieces like Evil Dead 2 and Braindead would be abject failures.

My first haul

>What is the first movie you plan to watch from your haul and why?

Probably Winchester '73. I've been on a western kick lately, and I love Jimmy Stewart.

>Is there anything from this haul that you have been looking forward to owning for a long time?

Ugetsu. For some reason I've put it off for years. Glad I waited for the 4k.

>Are any of your purchases blind buys? If so, why did you select them?

Yep. Winchester '73, Hell's Angels, Pandora's Box, McCabe & Mrs. Miller, The Big Heat, Altered States. All movies I've been interested in.

>What is a Criterion you’re hoping to add to your collection next?

Sorcerer. Almost picked it up this time but wanted to limit myself to 10.

How do you decide to grab a movie on Blu-ray now vs holding out in case of a 4K release?

Just wondering how you all approach this. Do you just buy whatever you want right now regardless of format? Do you avoid Blu-ray entirely? Or does it depend on the movie?

Horror Westerns

According to Letterboxd I've seen a whopping THREE movies that are tagged as both western and horror:

Bone Tomahawk
3 From Hell
Ravenous

That's pathetic. Give me your best recommendations.
