What is the best solution to my rug wrinkling

Sorry for asking such a simple question on here, but I’ve recently moved house and I just don’t have the budget to spend money on anything at all that doesn’t work.

I’ve got quite a thin rug on my hard living room floor and it is constantly wrinkling. I’ve researched rug underlays, carpet grippers and carpet tape and I’m not sure what would work best for this type of rug.

Does anyone have experience of a similar style of rug and could recommend a solution that actually works (and stops me wasting money on things that don’t!)

Thanks!!

Getting a new roof before neighbour sells

I’ve just moved bought a house. The survey didn’t highlight any major issues with the roof (70-80 years old) except the chimney needing repointing. Since I’ve moved in I’ve noticed a couple of damp ceiling patches not picked up in the survey. There are tears in the felt and some cracked and dislodged tiles. I’ve had a couple of quotes for repairs which have both been around £2k, or I can get a new roof for £6k.

Given the not huge difference in price I’m wondering whether to just go ahead and get a new roof. I’d like to get solar panels so it feels like it makes sense.

However I know that really, a repair would work fine and a new roof isn’t strictly necessary.

My next door neighbour (other half of the semi-detached) is looking to sell. Their roof is also the original I know I’d be a bit annoyed if the adjoining house put a brand new shiny roof on just before I went to market.

But other people are telling me that I’m overthinking it and I just need to do what’s best for me. What do people think?

EDIT: to clarify - I really like my neighbours, we get on well and I know they wouldn’t say anything about it. Of course I’ll let them know beforehand. It’s more I feel a bit bad because I do like them

I was under the impression that as long as I had initiated a Barclays switch by 30th April, I would be eligible for the £400. However their website says:

You’ll still get your £400 switch bonus if you did all these steps between 17 February and 30 April 2026:

Open an Account
Opened a Premier Current Account in the Barclays app.(1)

Complete a full switch
Completed a full switch in the Barclays app, including at least two Direct Debits.

Pay in £4,000
Pay in £4,000 into your new account.

Which sounds like the switch has to have completed. Annoyed because I started it on 30th April, and now it looks like I won’t get my money and will probably be ineligible for future offers now I’ve started a switch ☹️

I’ve got a small mouldy patch in the corner of a bedroom where the ceiling meets the wall (external wall). It’s a 1950s semi. It doesn’t feel especially wet but I’ve only recently moved in and the weather has been fairly dry since.

I’ve had three different roofers out who have said:

  1. Insulation not reaching the gable causing a cold patch

  2. Cracked roof tile and torn felt underneath - replacing the tile will solve the problem, torn felt not an issue

  3. Torn felt - needs repair or full replacement, tiles are not supposed to be watertight

Any ideas which is likely to be right?
