Ford interns, where do you guys live?

Hey everyone,

For those who’ve interned at Ford in Dearborn (or are currently there), where do most interns usually live?

Also would really appreciate specific apartment recommendations if you have them, places you liked, stayed at, or heard good things about.

I’m looking at areas like Dearborn, Royal Oak, Ferndale, Farmington Hills, Plymouth, Novi, etc., but I’m open.

Things I’m trying to figure out:
Which apartment communities are popular with interns/new grads
Any places that are especially good for safety + young professionals

If you’ve got any apartment names or complexes that worked well, please drop them.

Thanks in advance 🙌

Looking for opinions on these apartments

Hi everyone,

I’m 23F coming to Michigan for work in Dearborn and i’m trying to finalize where i want to live. Safety is my biggest priority, but i’d also love an area that feels nice for a young professional, has cafes/restaurants nearby, isn’t too isolated.

I’ve narrowed my search down to apartments in these areas:

- Plymouth

  1. Plymouth Heritage
  2. Starkweather Lofts
  3. Z on Plymouth
  4. Plymouth Collection
  5. Hines Park Place Apartments

- Novi

  1. Saddle Creek Apartments
  2. Edge at Novi
  3. Rover Oaks West

- Ferndale

  1. FerndaleHaus Lofts
  2. on Nine
  3. Vested Heights apartments

- Canton

  1. Springs at Canton
  2. Pilgrim Village
  3. Village of Canton Apartments
  4. Heather Ridge Apartments
  5. Fordham Green
  6. Turnbury Park

I’d really appreciate any feedback from people who have lined in or toured these places.

Which ones would you recommend?
Is there any I should absolutely avoid?
Any issues with management, maintenance, safety, bugs, theft?
Are there any other apartment communities in these areas that I should add to my list?

Thank you so much! Coming to a new state is a little overwhelming, so i’d really appreciate any local insight!

22F moving to Michigan and looking for apartment recommendations in/around Troy!

Hi everyone! I’m a 22-year-old female moving to Michigan for work and currently looking for a studio or 1-bedroom apartment in Troy or nearby areas.
A few things I’m looking for:

• Safe area, especially for a young woman living alone
• Budget: around $1,000–$1,500/month (can be a little flexible for the right place)
• Prefer a newer, well-maintained apartment with good amenities like in-unit laundry, and secure parking
• Walkable area or close to coffee shops, grocery stores, and restaurants would be a huge plus
• Furnished options are also welcome, but not required
• Easy commute to Dearborn would be ideal

I’ve heard good things about Troy, Royal Oak, and Plymouth, but I’d love recommendations on specific apartment complexes or neighborhoods that are safe and have a nice community feel.

If anyone has lived in the area or has any suggestions (or places to avoid), I’d really appreciate the help. Thank you!
