Jumped to Ubuntu to avoid Win11. SB AE-9 not supported =_(

I submitted a ticket through their customer support page, asking for support for Linux.

Here's how they responded. Looks like this is a "full stop" due to the use of the word "only."

Is there a Creative / SB card that will work with Ubuntu?

We regret to inform you that the Sound Blaster AE-9 is only supported on Windows.

If you are using the product outside of the recommended system, we will not be able to provide technical support, as the driver and software are designed specifically for the supported operating systems and system configurations.

We seek your kind understanding on this.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this email and we will get back to you.

How to update firmware on Crucial NVMe M.2 T710 on Ubuntu?

I have two Crucial T710s on my Ubuntu daily driver (24.04 LTS). I found out that Crucial published a firmware update, but they seem to only support a Windows installer.

Anyone have a workaround for this?

Thank you.

Hypothetical reason for Roku problems

Since the announcement that Fox was acquiring Roku, we have experienced problems on our new Roku Ultra. Constant lockups and constant spontaneous rebooting.

I've also read numerous reports about Roku TV update problems.

Hypothesis: Roku employees have tinkered with the most recent software update to sabotage Roku customers, and drive down the stock market value, harming Fox in the process.

Sound reasonable?

What causes this?

Backtracking to a earlier version of Ubuntu.

Downloaded the ISO directly from Canonical.

I welcome any advice or insights.

Thank you.

How in the world!?

Ubuntu 26.04 LTS.

Wired ethernet PC and HP printer.

Edited for clarity.

Since installing Ubuntu, I had been able to print.

One day, I logged in and my only option was to save as PDF.

Since this problem started, I can see the printer, I can add the printer in Settings, but I cannot not print to it. Even a test page fails.

Hp-Setup self reports it is not compatible with 26.04.

Reinstall time?

I am here to stay.

I have been a M$ Windows user since 1991. I've moved from Windows 3.0 to 3.1, then Win95, (and NT on government machines), 98, then WinXP, and Win7, finally Win10. I've used M$ both personally and professionally throughout my military career.

At the same time, I've been certified on IBM's AIX system admin and advanced system admin courses, and I've tinkered around with Unix/Linux over the past 30+ years.

When M$ started making updates (Win11) "mandatory" instead of opt-in (which was arguably the standard M$ model which we had become accustomed to over the decades), I drew the line in the sand.

I decided to make my gaming rig a LLM rig. Bottom line: I am now a daily driver of Ubuntu, and here I intend to remain.

It is a great environment, a great community, and it just works.

I can ping and log into id.me and login.gov.

But since a fresh install of Racoon (coming from Win 10 Pro), I seem to be cut off from va.gov for technical reasons.

I have a corporate-level firewall, and it can ping va.gov and validate that my PC is allowed to reach va.gov.

On my Ubuntu PC, I am using both Firefox and Brave to access va.gov. In both browsers, the connection times out.

I have updated and upgraded from the command line.

I am on IPV 4.0 and not running IPV 6 network wide.

Asus Prime Z590-A motherboard.

Please advise. And thank you for all assistance.
