Outside looking in

Hey it's been a few months since I updated with things. I was the person that was living with my in-laws because my father-in-law was not doing the best but ended up completely needing to leave that situation just due to how my father-in-law's care was going.

Since then we have learned that my father-in-law potentially has Para supernuclear palsy (psp) and that he pretty much Falls backwards all the time and is resistant to most of the Parkinson's meds.

A recent development was that he had to be rushed to the ER for an unrelated reason but we also learned that he currently has a fractured spine and a bruised spleen. My mother-in-law is still planning on they're Europe trip in about 2 weeks. She is bring along my husband and his brother as kind of a support network but one of the excursions they have is basically all day on a bus. And right now my husband and I are extremely concerned about his dad's ability to even be able to travel we are going home on Thursday to check in with them and basically "pack" for the trip.

I am hoping my husband is going to reach out to his other siblings to let them know that his father situation is serious enough to the point that they really need to think about hiring either help at home for him or to the possibility of getting him move to a facility that would support and give him the needs that he currently is lacking.

The mother-in-law is still trying to control everything outside of the situation we haven't like discussed on any of our jobs stop or anything with her because she always has something negative to put us down in the decisions we are doing in life.

Looking for housing

I am currently in the process of trying to figure out housing, apartments, etc. Some of the places I look require 4x pay which isnt quite the issue, its the fact they also require a ridiculous amount since my current rental refuses to verify i am renting.

I am also looking into ways around things, do not want a co signer as there are two of us moving into the housing.

Finally away

I'm going to say I feel a little bit guilty about this but I removed my husband and I away from his controlling mother and feel a bit guilty because we left his dad there to deal with the situation. His dad is the one with the PD and dealing with the stress and everything but I think having my husband and I there was not a help to them it was more of a burden.

I was able to go spend some time with my husband's mom and dad yesterday without him doing some family stuff and she seems to be a little bit calmer and more relaxed and a lot nicer towards me. However we learned that his dad might not actually have PD but something a little bit worse called psp? I've been trying to do a little bit of research after learning about that but they're trying to reach out to the doctor and everything because the Falls are three to four times a day and they're usually almost always backward. He also has this deer in the headlights stare where his eyes just look wide open all the time and I'm not sure if he blinks or just really slowly and tends to have some mild forgetfulness with things. He's been going to work with a personal trainer and then this specialty program designed for people with PD but his personal trainer is the one who noted that the PD might be something more as he had taken his medication and ended up within 45 minutes to an hour afterwards having a pretty significant fall. There's been some notes and notices that the medications may not be working fully or even at all in some cases so we're just now trying to navigate what was necessarily might mean and I'm wondering if anyone here has had any experience with the PSP rather than the PD?

Mistaken diagnosis?

My FIL had been diagnosed officially with PD in 2021. He has been going through therapy, speech and physical to help maintain strength. He continues to have mobility issues, shuffling of feet, falling backwards and recently one of the therapists suggested he might have something called Progressive supranuclear palsy or PSP. From everything I have researched, it seems to mimic a lot of PD symptoms but is progressively worse and the person with it, generally does not respond to medication.

From the things ive noted the falling backwards and rigid/stiffness are the two major stand outs. Has anyone dealt with similar? I know right now PSP is considered a rare disease and just trying to see how to better help.

I think people are scared?

I had posted a while back that I was currently trying to help transition my unable to drive (medically) husband away from the clutches of his OCD mother and stop feeling like we are burdens rather than help for his dad w the PD. His mom needs to control everything and anything or just looses her mind.

I sent an email regarding things weeks ago, but yesterday when my hubby mentioned the move again she just lost her crap. I am not sure if this is a reaction because she is scared or if she just wants to be able to try and control others.

Rn my father in law is on a newer program for things and seems to respond at least somewhat decently, but still has his falling episodes.

Anyhow I am suppose to go pick my hubby up for the move today and this is how things went w convos:
