Best skiing/snowboarding options

I’m new to the area, and now that it’s getting cooler outside, I’m wondering what’s the ski hill of choice for people of Winona. I’ve read good things about Welch Village, and the drive isn’t bad, but figured I’d still ask about other options. I’m a snowboarder who enjoys a good terrain park, although I spend a decent amount of time on regular runs, too. Also looking for people to ride with in the area!

Complete apprenticeship then move to another state?

Sorry if this has already been asked, I did try searching for this question but didn't find anything.

If I do an apprenticeship in my current state (MN), how complicated is it to move to another state (most likely WA or OR) after completing the apprenticeship? If I'm with a union, would I just transfer to the union in the new state? Would licenses not transfer, and would I need to retest in the new state? I've found an electrician license reciprocity checker, and it says there's no reciprocity between MN and WA or OR, but I assume that just means I'd need to take the new state's test.

Also, any recommendations on good trades to get into for the PNW? I'm leaning toward electrician or hvac - I know summers are getting hotter in the PNW, so I would think there's more need for buildings with A/C than before. And it'd be nice to have mild winters unlike the ones we have here in the Midwest. Lots of tech companies out there, which I would think need electricians to set up their systems (although maybe that's more of a low voltage IT thing).

Hank’s Driver’s License has an Oklahoma ZIP Code

To be fair, they also put his sex as female, so maybe it’s another clerical error.

Honda Fit GRiZ fam

To the person with the Honda Fit with the GRiZ stickers and GRiZ-related license plate, we should be friends.

Also, your passenger side taillight is burnt out.

Moving Out of State, Still Have One Year Left on Lease [WI]

I’ve been at my current apartment for three years, and I have a one year lease, which renews July 1. I had to sign the new lease by Dec 1, eight months before it renews - or find another place to live. Since that time, I’ve been offered a job in another state, and I’ve also been approved for an apartment in that area. So I have a lease for my current apartment until June 2027, but that lease hasn’t actually started yet. I’m wondering if there’s anything I can do to make the transition smooth for everyone involved.

I emailed the management company proposing that we change my lease starting July 1 to month-to-month until it’s time for me to move and they’ve secured a new tenant. They replied saying that they received my email and that they’re looking into the terms of my lease to see what options we have. So that’s somewhat promising, they didn’t just flat out say no.

I’m wondering what my next steps should be. I’ve already been talking with people on sublet forums that are interested in my apartment, so I don’t think finding a new tenant will be an issue. I just don’t want to sublet and be liable for a lease for an entire year with someone else living here, just hoping they’ll be reliable. If they say no to the month-to-month idea, what options do I have? I have pretty good credit, and I’d rather not ruin that if possible, but I’ve gotta do what I gotta do to improve my life.

There’s been a pattern of insufficient heat in my apartment all three of the winters I’ve been here - the temperature gets down to about 55 degrees whenever it’s at least moderately cold outside, and I have pictures and screenshots of the thermostat and other thermometers in my apartment, along with records of me notifying my landlord about the issue. It’s June now, so of course insufficient heat isn’t a problem right now, but I can’t live here another winter. The cold in my apartment has taken a toll on my mental and physical health, and his contractors always do the bare minimum amount of work, which makes little difference, if any. Just including that as it might be something to use as leverage to get out of the lease. TIA!

Conflicted about what I’m looking for

I’m 31M and all I’ve ever had was a two month situationship and a couple one time things, all from Tinder or Bumble. I’d really like to find someone to share my life with and have a relationship, but it feels so daunting and hard to find someone with mutual interest. All the people I’ve been involved with and attracted to weren’t looking for anything serious. I’m so deprived of human contact that I would be happy to just be close to someone, even if there’s no intention of a relationship or emotional connection or even anything sexual. I’m bi, and I’ve resorted to looking for someone on Grindr, but when someone’s actually interested in meeting up, I get cold feet and say nevermind because I don’t want it to turn into a hookup. I know Grindr isn’t the app for me, I guess I just kinda like the attention except when it gets a bit too real. Overall, I just don’t want to spend the rest of my life alone, yknow?

Housing Options in Winona

Hi! I made a post about possibly moving to Winona, and I visited for Mid West Music Fest and was blown away. The place really seems to check a lot of boxes for me. I have a job offer in Winona, so now it's just a matter of finding a place to live. I've already applied for one apartment and was denied, so currently there's only two other apartments that fit my criteria on Zillow and Apartments. I'm looking for something under $1000, and I have a cat. One bedroom would be ideal, but I wouldn't hate a studio if it's a decent size and condition. Also wouldn't mind something more than a one bedroom if I knew someone in the area that would be a compatible roommate. I'm a 31 year old guy looking for a change of pace from a major college town (Madison, WI), so I'd rather not live *with* college students, but I wouldn't mind living in a college student-heavy area.

I knew there wouldn't be a lot of housing options considering it's a small college town. At least the company that offered me a job is pretty flexible on a start date, so it's not a huge rush. Mostly wondering if there are any property management companies I should check out since not all of them post their listings on rental sites - or management companies I should avoid. Thanks in advance!

Mid West Fest and Winona Music Scene

Hey everyone! I live in Wisconsin, and I’m visiting Winona this weekend. Not only am I going for Mid West Fest, but also to check out the city and see if it’s somewhere I’d like to move. On paper (Google and this sub), it checks a lot of boxes for me, but we’ll see what I think of it irl. I’ve already made a post asking about what it’s like and gotten some good recommendations of places to check out. But if anyone wants to hang out/grab a drink/hear some live music with me, feel free to message me or comment here!

One thing I’ve been wondering about is the music scene in Winona in general. I’ve looked up some bars to see what kind of events they host, I’ve seen some events for local bands and some DJs that seem to spin a wide variety of music. The reason I’m wondering is that recently, I’ve really gotten into house music, and that scene has been a great way to meet people in my current city. I’m just wondering if there’s currently any tangible house or EDM community in Winona. If not, no big deal, just thought I’d ask!
